Calling For Your Underappreciated Stories

For those of you who are kind enough to care: I am finally back from my Italian vacation!

It was wild, chaotic, nurturing, and... exhausting.

On the last day, my heart broke, and half of it stayed behind. I miss my family already, but I am also glad to be back home and fall back into the safety and predictability of our daily routine.

During the long car trip back, I had the time to read a lot of stories here on Vocal. I finally checked out all the entries in Paul and John's challenge, and those in Sara Wilson's challenge (Which were all amazing! If you haven't yet, do go and check them out!).

At some point, it felt like my story feed was too short!

It was great to have time to read — although it was far from uninterrupted, with my now-1-year-old sitting next to me — but it also made me realize that there must be so many amazing stories that I missed.

So, taking inspiration from Shirley Belk's "Read, Comment, Reciprocate", I decided to ask my fellow creators to volunteer some of their stories.

Do you have stories that you feel went underappreciated?

Maybe you posted them at the wrong time of day, maybe there were too many other stories published at the same time, maybe the picture you chose just wasn't captivating enough... whatever the reason, these stories didn't get as many reads as your others, or just not as much as you thought they deserved.

Share them in the comments!

And I promise, nay, I pinky promise that I will read all of them in due time (I still have an attention-hungry 1-year-old to take care of).

In fact, there is no deadline: If you found this post and want to get one more reader on your stories, go ahead and share them. And if you don't have specific stories that you wish had more reads, you can always go to your stats and pick the last ones.

Please limit yourself to three stories. Let's leave a little room for everyone.

Now, if you are a kind and lovely person, you'll take the chance to read the other stories in the comments (and maybe mine as well?), but there is no obligation.

And, as promised, here are my less successful posts:

1. "By Aphrodite's Fire", my first dabble with historical fiction.

2. "Redacted", somewhat of a sci-fi mystery.

3. "Rotten Memories", a poem that has been very hard and painful to write as it goes over trauma.

And here is a list of all the great stories that were linked in the post so far!
