I’m back with another challenge!! This one is inspired by Mackenzie Davis’s Grocery List Challenge which has been super fun, participating in and reading the other entries.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who participated in my Colour Prompt and read my poems written for it. I loved reading everyone’s takes on it.

Here’s the next one:

Write a poem structured like an instruction manual or a recipe.

I want a step by step guide for some kind of process, but make it poetic.

This could be something vague and emotional like, a guide to healing or a guide to happiness. It could be something deeper like, how to get out of bed when facing depression. Maybe it’s something dark like, how to commit a murder (I hope this one isn’t from personal experience though!). Or you could take a more lighthearted approach and write a rhyming poem about building lego.

The options are endless. Interpret the prompt however you want and submit as many entries as your heart desires, just make sure to share the link in the comments!

This time there is a deadline: 25th of November 12 pm AEST. I’ll be sharing some of my favourite entries soon after so make sure you share yours before then!

I can’t wait to read what you all come up with!

Here’s mine:

Late to reading this Challenge, but I'm tucking it away for future writing. Great Idea!

People are so interested in this challenge, I only found it like an hour or so ago. I wish Poppy could extend it. Others would love to discover themselves.

So late, but English time is hopefully the same as yours, anyway, here is one I wrote in like a few minutes. https://vocal.media/poets/beautiful-morning-in-the-garden

  • I think this is just under the wire but here's my entryhttps://vocal.media/poets/how-to-keep-going

Took me ages, I know, but I hope this is in time. I used a time zone converter and everything! 😅 Experimental, but super fun. I feel I could keep working on this one, really. Hope you like it; this was such a good idea for a challenge and I wish I'd done more entries! I'll have to just do it for fun instead. 🤗❤️ https://vocal.media/poets/going-home-894xk0b6z

Here’s one I tweaked for this challenge: https://vocal.media/poets/how-to-fall-in-love-at-first-sight The other is the Note on Fridge, link in a thread lower down. If you wanted completely new from scratch, let me know and I’ll scrap these and write something else 🤗x

Ooh I keep missing these challenges (I even wrote a senryu about it 😂), but here I am, almost tripping over this one lol! I actually have a suitable one already—it was a longer version if one I made into a haiku for Caroline’s food haiku challenge. I’ll see what else I can conjure up 🤗

  • Hi Poppy… I’m excited and terrified to share my third poetry attempt! I wrote it especially for your interesting challenge. Thanks. https://vocal.media/poets/live-like-a-labrador

Ah this is such perfect timing! I’ve had a tiny idea along those lines percolating. Hopefully your challenge brings it out of me!
