Finally Mahindra has launched the XUV700 with its prices ranging from 12.49 lakh to 22.99 lakh ex-showroom.

XUV700 comes in AX and MX trim ranges, for which booking has opened both online and through dealerships. Delivery of petrol variants is about to start by the end of October while the delivery of Diesel variants will start only by end of November. XUV700 received 50,000 bookings in just 2 days.

Why XUV700 and not XUV500

Initially the plan was to carry over the XUV500 badge, but later on the additional features and improvements in the model has made them name it differently and price it above the XUV500. Now that they have a new segment and can bring back the XUV500 which will be placed just below the XUV700 in the lineup.

2021 XUV700 has grown in dimension and features

The new XUV700 is larger than XUV500 both in terms of length but the width is the same. XUV700 at 4695mm is 110mm longer that the XUV500. Wheelbase has also gone up by 50mm. Interestingly XUV700 has a height 30mm less than the XUV500.

XUV700 has the design that looks like a grownup XUV500 in many places but there are many areas the design stand out compared to XUV500, like the impressive front grille, new headlight design and unique LED DRL. New alloy wheels and tail light design looks unique. Another interesting bit is the new door handle that pops up. It gives a clean and modern look though the push and then pull action to open the door seems a bit overdone.

2021 XUV700 is packed with features

Mahindra has packed the car with loads of features making it good competitor in the segment. Top spec comes with a dual 10.25-inch screen one for the infotainment and the other for instrument cluster which looks similar to the ones seen in some Mercedes-Benz models. The XUV700 claims to have the largest panoramic sunroof in the segment. 5 seat and 7 seat configurations are available. ADAS (Advanced driver assistance system) is one of the highlight feature of the car.

XUV700 variant break-up

XUV700 has many variants they have MX and AX series. MX series are only available as 5 seater. It gets Diesel and Petrol version with Diesel making slightly lesser power compared to AX series. AX series has AX3, AX5 and AX7. It comes with the new duel screen infotainment as standard. Some are available in 5 seat and some trims in 7 seat configuration. All wheel drive is available only for the diesel automatic and 360-degree camera and electronically operated door handles only comes in the luxury pack which costs an extra 1 lakh rupees.

Safety and ADAS

The fully loaded XUV700 gets ABS, ESP, 7 airbags, auto dimming headlight, driver drowsiness detection, booster headlights which increases the light intensity when the car speed surpasses 80kmph.

Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is the new highlight being a new feature in the segment. It provides Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Brakes (AEB), Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and the Smart Pilot Assist or traffic assist

Engine options

XUV700 comes with petrol and diesel engines, with diesel in two states of tunes.

The turbo petrol engine produces 200bhp power and 380NM of torque, which is the highest un the segment.

Diesel engine is a 2.2.2-litre MHawk turbo charged unit which comes in 2 states of tunes. One making 155 bhp and 360NM and the other with 185 bhp with 420NM and the automatic variant comes with 185 bhp with a slightly higher torque figure of 450NM. Both the engine comes with 6 speed manual and automatic options.

Pricing of XUV700

Mahindra has priced the XUV700 fairly well compared to the competitors. The price ranges from 12.49 lakh for the base model to 22.99 lakh for the top spec luxury pack.
