Ferrari SF90 Spider is launched. As Ferrari's first mass-produced externally rechargeable hybrid roadster, the SF90 Spider sets a new benchmark for the entire Ferrari model lineup. The new roadster follows the supercar parameters and peak performance of the SF90 Stradale while adopting Ferrari's latest foldable hardtop convertible design. The Ferrari folding hardtop convertible was first introduced in 2011 for the Berlinetta with a mid-rear engine layout.

Quick Facts

The SF90 Spider is the most powerful Ferrari production roadster ever built and the first externally rechargeable hybrid with a folding hardtop convertible under the Le Man's umbrella.

The SF90 Spider is the first Ferrari production roadster to feature a folding hardtop convertible and is the first externally rechargeable hybrid model from Le Mans.

Performance: Maximum combined power output 735 kW (1000 PS); 0-100 km/h 2.5 seconds; 0-200 km/h 7.0 seconds; 100-0 km/h <29.5 m; top speed 340 km/h

Electronic controls: eSSC (electronic side slip angle control system): four-wheel drive technology (eTC, eDiff3 electronic differential), SCME-Frs, FDE 2.0, EPS; ABS (high-performance anti-lock braking system)/EBD (electronic brake-force distribution system) with possible volume recovery

The SF90 Spider is equipped with an externally rechargeable hybrid system powered by a turbocharged V8 engine with a maximum output of 780PS and three electric motors, one at the rear axle and two at the front, with a maximum output of a staggering 1000PS. The system uses sophisticated control logic to automatically monitor and adjust power distribution to suit different driving scenarios without making it more difficult to control.

The driver simply selects one of the power handling modes ("eDrive Pure", "Hybrid", "Performance" and "Qualifying") via the new Manetti control knob. " and "Qualifying Mode") for an exhilarating driving experience. Inheriting the advantages of the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider is also equipped with all-wheel drive, setting a new benchmark for acceleration: it accelerates from 100 km in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km in 7.0 seconds.

The engineers at Ferrari's Maranello headquarters were able to further optimize the new car's dynamic control system using a sophisticated mechanical layout. This system, which checks the vehicle's dynamic performance in real-time, is also known as the Electronic Side Slip Control (SSC). Based on the information collected, it distributes torque separately to the inner and outer wheels via an electric motor mounted on the front axle (Torque Vectoring System) to control the vehicle's driving stability, significantly increasing the traction needed to exit corners while providing a simpler and more intuitive handling experience.

The new car's innovative aerodynamic design generates 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, setting a new benchmark for downforce and aerodynamic efficiency for high-performance road cars without additional aerodynamic packages. The new car also features several innovative patented solutions, including the most famous closed flaps and forged wheels. The closed flap, mounted at the rear, is an active aerodynamic component that can be adjusted to driving conditions. The forged wheels have a wing profile reminiscent of the wind geometry of Ferrari Formula 1 wheels.

The focus of the SF90 Spider's design was to ensure that it inherited the iconic styling of the SF90 Stradale. The Ferrari Styling Centre has carefully designed the roof area so that it integrates perfectly with the rest of the car, giving it an integrated visual appearance. What is even more impressive is that the design of the rear section also takes into account the foldable hardtop and its storage space, allowing a glimpse of the V8 engine through the engine hatch. Whether the convertible hardtop is open or closed, the V8 engine is a deserved highlight.

In the interior, the driving philosophy of "eyes on the road, hands on the wheel", derived from the race track, continues to drive the development of ergonomic design and interior style. Guided by this philosophy, the new car features a new Human-Machine Interface (HMI), including a new steering wheel with a touch screen that allows the driver to control all functions without taking his hands off the wheel.

The fully digital central instrument panel features a 16-inch curved HD screen that can be set and controlled via buttons on the steering wheel. The automatic gearbox controls in the center area are grille-style, taking inspiration from Ferrari's classic manual shift paddles.

Continuing the essence of the Le Man's convertible, the SF90 Spider features a foldable hardtop convertible. The convertible top ensures optimal sound insulation and protection when closed and will not deform even at high speeds while providing excellent passenger space and ride comfort.

The compact, simple and lightweight design of the convertible hardtop opens and closes in just 14 seconds, and can be easily deployed while moving. The key to the success of the Ferrari Convertible Hardtop is that it takes up only 100 liters of space when closed, compared to the 150 to 200 liters required to close a conventional hardtop.

Thanks to the aluminum architecture, the convertible hardtop weighs around 40 kg less than a conventional hardtop. The adjustable power rear window ensures excellent ride comfort even at high speeds with the convertible top open.

In addition, the SF90 Spider offers exclusive features for drivers who are looking for the ultimate in speed, just as the SF90 Stradale does, and the Assetto Fiorano configuration offers a series of exclusive upgrades that clearly distinguish it from the standard model, notably Multimatic dampers based on Ferrari's GT racing experience and designed to optimize track performance.

In addition, the weight of the car has been reduced by 21 kg thanks to the use of high-performance materials (carbon fiber and titanium), as well as a carbon fiber rear spoiler and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup II tires with a softer tread and fewer grooves, specially designed to improve performance on dry track surfaces. In addition, the Assetto Fiorano configuration is available in optional two-tone body paint to highlight its exceptional track performance.
