Everyone likes a pocket rocket, but which of the budget-friendly, eager-to-please Budget Sportbikes on sale will not leave you disappointed?

Check out our Top 4 Best Budget Sportbikes of 2022 list to see who will be named winner.

1 - Honda CBR500R [£6,499]

The Honda CBR500R has a pleasingly traditional feel about it, which is primarily due to its approach being fairly basic.

While bikes in the 125, 300, and 600cc categories are popular, Honda's decision to split the difference with a trio of 500cc models places them in their own category, one that draws on the best of both worlds to produce a well-rounded product.

The practical Honda CB500F, the spectacular Honda CB500X, and now, the exciting CBR500R are the results.

The CBR500R is the gentler and more useable sister of the CBR650R, fulfilling the sportsbike brief without reducing the engine capacity to a 300cc.

But don't let that deter you; the CBR500R is all the better for it, as it demonstrates its well-balanced engineering by being immensely fun to ride, feeling faster than its 47bhp suggests, and still as elegant and composed as a much larger Honda sportsbike.

If you can afford it, the £6,499 price tag makes the tiny premium over smaller, slower, and more basic 125 and 300cc rivals a no-brainer.

To be honest, we're shocked rivals haven't been satisfied to let Honda get the full benefits of a 500...

2 - Kawasaki Ninja 650

Now, we'll concede that this is stretching the definition of a 'cheap' sportsbike, and the Kawasaki Ninja 650 is the lone competitor here. Harga Kawasaki Ninja 650 is Rp 168,20 - 170,20 Juta.

Despite the fact that it is the most expensive sportsbike here at £7,299, you get a lot of motorbike for your money... So, if your budget allows you to spend a little more than £5,000 on a premium 125cc sportsbike, you may go for a 650cc instead.

The Ninja 650 blends the sensibility of a tourer with the pulsing pulse of a sportsbike to create one of the most flexible, dual-personality motorcycles in the mid-range.

The Ninja 650 looks and feels like a quality product from a brand who understands how to produce a fine sportsbike, thanks to its classic green livery.

On the straight and narrow, the Ninja 650 seems calm and elegant, but when pushed, it has a quick change of speed and corner, thanks to Kawasaki's punchy 68PS 649cc engine.

When you consider that the Ninja 650 is in the same price bracket as the £8,400 Yamaha R7 and the £10,149 Aprilia RS660, it seems more acceptable to think of it as a value added alternative if the 125 or 300 just isn't cutting it.

3 - Yamaha R3 / Yamaha R125

Yamaha's heritage when it comes to refined racers-for-the-road needs no introduction, with a long and famous history of sportbikes spanning decades.

Even better, Yamaha has shared its expertise and know-how with us across the board, with models ranging from the flagship R1 to the mid-weight R6 sprinter, all the way down to the R3 and R125.

Because of this ladder method, even the R125 makes you feel like you're part of an exclusive group, not least because Yamaha has done an excellent job transferring the R1's elegant, subtle styling to a smaller canvas.

The R125 and R3 are well-engineered, smartly designed, and seem like excellent items, which goes some way to justifying the R125's exorbitant £5,000 price tag, while the R3 - which offers 42PS instead of 15PS - costs just under £1,000.

A distinctive engine and engaging characteristics round up a combination that will quickly make you feel like Valentino Rossi.

4 - Aprilia RS125 [£4,850]

Since its screaming, rev-happy two-strokes tore up the streets and in a swirl of smoke and vapour in the 1990s, Aprilia's iconic baby sportsbike has been the poster child of the sector for decades.

Times have changed, and today's smallest Aprilia - the RS GP - is a far more complex machine, drawing influence from the RSV4, the most expensive and refined of the major sportsbikes.

With 14.7bhp, inverted forks and top notch spec, the Aprilia RS125 is desirable, a looker with its distilled RSV4 touches and is sure to put a smile on your face.
