Wandering Culloden
A Day Walking A Battlefield And Graveyard

Introduction
While in Inverness we took a bus to the Culloden Battlefield where the 1745 Jacobite Rising came to a terrible end. The website tells you about the battle and you can visit it here:
Some Of My Thoughts
On 16 April 1746, the final Jacobite Rising came to a brutal head in one of the most harrowing battles in British history.
Jacobite supporters, seeking to restore the Stuart monarchy to the British thrones, gathered to fight the Duke of Cumberland’s government troops. It was the last pitched battle on British soil and, in less than an hour, around 1,600 men were slain – 1,500 of them Jacobites.
I just took this from the site and am shocked at the speed of the killings, remember this was nearly three hundred years ago.

The vistor centre is a great experience with weapons used, displays and and battle immersion rooms and corridors.

The battle immersion room features four video walls with armies appearing, shooting, and making a lot of noise. The immersion corridor features the noise from government troops on one side and the Jacobites on the other side.

The battlefield has a lot of paths with flags for where the various forces did battle.

As you walk you see memorial stones commemorating some of the dead that fell at this battle.

I thought I had taken more pictures, but they are not on my phone.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading and I hope you found some of this interesting.
