During the holiday season

It was the 26th December 2019 when I arrived in Germany. I flew to Germany from Malaysia to visit a best friend, while meeting up with other friends. I was there for 10 days for vacation. It was a cold winter, which I love.

When I first arrived at the airport, I was lost. The signs were a little misleading, there were not many people around the arrival area of the airport. I had to call a friend for help, since we were meeting up at the airport. If you get lost in the airport, don't be afraid to ask for help. The customer service people can speak English, as I did ask them for help when I first step out.

This was one of my best vacation of 2019, no doubt. Commuting in Germany is relatively easy. Their train station operates 24 hours as it leads to the airport. You'll never have to worried about not being able to catch a train back if it's too late into the nights. You can get yourself a daily, weekly, or monthly train ticket. I got myself a weekly ticket for 18 Euro. Public transportation is the cheapest way to travel around Germany as Uber are expensive. There are not many cars on the road, so I recommend the public transport, which are easy and accessible anytime.

Depending on which stop you get down, almost every place is walking distance. And, if you have your Google Map, you'll never get lost. Just key in where you want to go and where you're currently at, and head out!

It was raining on the day I arrived (9.AM). Although, I could have stayed at my best friend's out, we decided to book a hotel and stay in the city. It was a 5-minute walk from the train station to the hotel.

With a good shower and rest after a one-day flight, we decided to head out and be the tourist we are. We walked all over the city, exploring every place near our hotel. Side note, if you decided to go out after resting for 2 hours after a one-day flight, expect your leg to cramp every so often. Warm up and let you muscle relax before heading out.

Most of the time, we spend our days exploring by feet. When it comes to travelling, I love going around by feet because I get to see and enjoy more things than being in a car. It's probably different for everyone else.

Most of the time, we were out till at least 7 PM before we headed back to the hotel. So, on days that we were out late, we get to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights decorated all over the city. It tends to get quiet after 10 PM, which is peaceful if you're out taking a breather and not wanting to do any interaction.

Many places and shops in Munich aren't open on Public Holidays, as they believe it is the day for you to rest and spend time with your family. If you're considering visiting certain places, remember to check before heading there as to not disappoint yourself. However, malls and most F&B are open.

Most things in Germany are affordable and/or cheap. You can get a pair of beautiful pyjamas for 5 Euro to 10 Euro, or a cute ring for 5 Euro. Their chap-stick cost around 2 Euro. It's explored, discover and buy them if you want them. However, due to currency exchange rate, don't forget to convert the rate as somethings you can get it cheaper in your own country.

When you're in Germany, definitely try out all their food. The food portion are huge. Usually, I would order 1 plate of food and share it with my friend. The price? It is cheap! Big food portion with a cheap price! Best of both worlds. When it comes to food, don't limit yourself. Put yourself out there and try these foods.

And as we all know, Germany is well known for their cheap beer and alcohol. Alcohol is so cheap in Germany. Every day, we will enter our hotel with wine, beer, and vodka. My all-time favorite beer in Germany would be the Tequila Beer. Give that a try if you are a beer person. It is way better than our ordinary beer. Try it once, and you'll fall in love with it. I am sure for that 10 days I was there, our meals consist mainly of alcohol.

The people in Germany tend to keep it to themselves. They don't really interact with anyone unless it's people they know. If you are in the city area, they can all communicate in English.

If you do plan to travel to Germany for a vacation, make sure to check online and get some information or at least have an idea before heading there. If you have any friends or family member living there, it will be easier as they can guide you or show you around.
