Las Vegas Strip

Las Vegas is known as the great "Sin City," you visit for the weekend, party and drink nonstop and then wait for the dreadful day you return home. What some people do not realize is that Las Vegas is more than just drinking, gambling and strippers. Las Vegas has some amazing winter events for both kids and adults.

1. Cosmopolitan Winter Ice Rink

Every winter season, the Cosmopolitan hotel on the strip turns their relaxing pool into ice that runs about 4,000 square feet. This ice makes for the perfect winter escape that allows people of all ages to skate. All day skating is only $20, and for locals and hotels guests, it is only $10. Surrounding the iced-over pool are sitting areas that feature fire pits to warm up by and even roast marshmallows for the perfect smores. The best feature to this winter wonderland is that about every 30 minutes, there is real snowfall!

2. Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Las Vegas' Motor Speedway is known for the epic races and the exclusive chance to drive exotic cars on the track just two minutes away, but during the holiday season, the speedway is lined up with cars wanting to catch the beautiful sights of the Glittering Lights. While the racetrack itself goes through routine check-up and repairs, the staff turn the stands into a beautiful light show. These are not just any lights you walk through, but you drive through them. Cars drive, slowly, under the stands and along the outside of the track through archways of lights and festive decorations. You can see lights shaped as anything from Santa Claus, to a Giraffe along the side of the path. The cost ranges depending on the day you plan to go, but weekdays are $20 while the any-day tickets are $30( these prices are per car, not per person). Before you start your drive through the lights, you go through a "checkpoint" where you can purchase hot cocoa, hot apple cider, and even snacks like kettle corn. At this checkpoint, you can also turn your car radio to a set station where they will play Christmas music just for these spectacular lights. These lights are a family tradition for many, and could be yours, too.

3. Downtown Summerlin Mall

Downtown Summerlin is Las Vegas' newest, and one of its hottest malls, and every year the mall makes a grand gesture for the holidays. This mall hosts one of the biggest holiday parades in Las Vegas each year, and the parade is free to watch. In the parade, there are Ice Princesses, Elves, Santa, and even Mrs. Clause. The characters interact with the kids, and stop and take selfies with you. They even pass out candy canes and lollipops. After the fun of the parade, there is ice skating just around the corner of this outdoor mall, and, of course, featured near the rink is an igloo where you can meet the one-and-only Santa Clause.
