New Year’s Eve is an exciting event, which is celebrated globally. But as you all know, in Sydney, it is an experience that is more than just exciting. Being in Sydney for the past one year, I am well-acquainted with this city, its festivities and its people. If you followed my previous article, I let you in on a few tips for a hassle-free New Year’s Eve experience in Sydney. I also remember mentioning several vantage points around Sydney Harbour, where you can view the NYE fireworks and harbour events. This New Year’s Eve I have decided to go aboard one of the New Year’s Cruises in Sydney to view the fireworks yet again. That’s when the idea of sharing similar few vantage points crossed my mind. On that note, here are the best venues for a splendid view of the fireworks:

The New Years Eve Cruises

From what I have experienced, viewing the Sydney Harbour fireworks from one of the NYE Cruises is something to look forward to. I was left with a mesmerising experience in the budget-friendly catamaran. The sky transformed into a colourful spectacle with the burst of the loud fireworks amidst the serene waters. Food, drinks, DJ entertainment and spectacular views of world famous architectural wonders such as the Opera House and more was enough to make our New Year's Eve truly rocking.

Royal Botanical Garden

Another venue is the Royal Botanical Garden. A heritage walk or a nature tour is ideal to explore this place that is spread over 40 hectares. With a celebration facility and four vantage points, you will be able to catch the live display of fireworks with ease. Here, the two populous places at this time are - Midnight At The Oasis and Lawn with the View.

Darling Harbour

Darling Harbour is the most happening place especially when it comes to the new year celebration in the city. If you are in Sydney, this is a must-visit place to be in. Here, Cargo Bar, Bungalow 8 and the Loft are the most thronged places that people visit to celebrate New Years Eve while viewing the fireworks.

Sydney Harbour National Park

Located in the heart of the city, is the Sydney Harbour National Park. Be it live shows, unlimited beverages, discotheques, musical concerts, there is a lot that this place offers you. The most swarmed places that you will find here at New Year’s Eve are - Fort Denison, Goat Island, Shark Island, Clark Island, Bradley’s Head and Nielsen Park.

Sydney Opera House

Right from the iconic Opera House, you get to witness unobstructed views of the Harbour Bridge, where the action takes place. Can it get any better than this? Well it is one of the best vantage points, but you need to arrive here as early as 12pm. As you have much time to spare, you can spend it at the Opera Bar, Portside Sydney and more.

Observatory Hill Park

In Sydney, this is one park that has all the views of the Harbour Bridge. This popular picnic spot was once the highest point in colonial Sydney. So rest assured, you can get the best views of all the NYE celebrations from right here. What’s even cooler? The entry is free of charge even though there is no food for sale or BYO. A kind reminder - It’s best to show up earlier after the venue opens at 7 to get a hassle-free view of the fireworks.

The Rocks

You will find the city’s oldest pubs right here. Many of the high-end restaurants have great harbour views as well. Look out for these six vantage points in the Rocks - Hickson Road Reserve, Dawes Point Park, Campbell’s Cove, East Circular Quay, Wharf 2 - Circular Quay and West Circular Quay.

If you want to celebrate your New Year’s Eve hassle-free and get unobstructed views of the fireworks, you need to ensure how jam-packed all the vantage points are going to be. So, choose your convenient spot and have a blast this New Year’s Eve!
