Taking a Cruise

Is it worth it? YES.

A real picture of my cruise ship in 2014.

Why going on a cruise is worth it:

Have you ever been frightened to go on a cruise? Do you want to try it but you're not sure if it is worth the money? I am sure people have many questions regarding their decision on vacationing on a cruise. Back in 2014, my family and I went on a five day cruise to the Bahamas. This was an overall great experience for all of us. Traveling and the cost of a cruise can be worrisome, but if you have a budget set out, and the extra money available, it is worth it.

First I will start off by telling you the events that took place, as well as the opportunities you can experience. Depending on how far away you are from where you would get on your designated ship, the drive or flight can be fun as well. When I went on my vacation, we drove to the port to board the ship. Vacation started the second we had the car packed and went south. The drive there was very long, but the experience with your loved ones is what matters the most. After arriving and boarding your ship, they will usually do some specific repercussions for safety. After that, you officially get to experience everything a cruise can offer, which leads into my first and most enjoyed activity. I don’t know about you, but I love to eat! There is so much food always available to you. No matter what time, where you are at, it is there. If you are hungry at one AM, you can eat! They have so much food to choose from it is mind-boggling. The best part of it all is it actually is good food!

The next best thing I loved about it was the casino. If you love to gamble, or just want something to do if you have the extra money, then the casino is right for you. I am almost certain every ship has one included. I could be wrong, but either way it is worth the experience.

Have you ever been on a beach at nighttime? You can be in a similar boat (no pun intended). Imagine being on the back of a boat at nighttime and staring off into the ocean and the waves created by the boat as is it sails onward. The sound and relaxation it gives off is truly breathtaking.

Let me add—before I forget—other activities included by the staff itself. Most cruise lines will have specific activities lined up for all the guests on board which will include plays, games between other people, contests, giveaways, and so much more.

Are you worried about what your kids will do? If you have kids that would tag along, there is much for them to do, as well. There are usually arcades, rock-climbing, swimming pools, and other things set up by the staff to occupy a child’s time.

The rooms on the ship, depending on what type of room you will pay for, will depend on the size and features that you will have available to you. The standard room is fairly nice and good in size. Out of all the ships I have been on, they all had a TV, a nice, but small, bathroom, five beds; two that fold down on each side, and below them is two more on each side. There is usually one below the left side that comes out as an extra. The TV that was in the room just played movies. They were not super good movies or anything like that, but it did the trick and kept me entertained while heading off to sleep. There should also be room service of some sort. Depending on the cruise line, this will determine if they charge for it or not. Either way, if you are feeling lazy, it’s an idea to keep in mind.

Don’t forget, you are not even to your destination yet! So with all those things you can do, you still have to go and visit where the ship is actually heading. For me it was the Bahamas, which, that alone made the whole trip. Just be careful to only do trusted excursions. The last thing you want is to pay some sketchy group of people $400 for something you could have paid $150 for, or much worse. Do not let that discourage you, though. Surely I have persuaded you enough that you will consider this as a vacation. It may not be right for everyone, or be out of their budget. If it meets your standards, then I say give it a shot!
