Whether embarking on a Eurotrip or a weekend jaunt to a foreign city, European travel requires some smart planning; you may know all the must-see landmarks, but we provide the hidden gems.
London on a Budget
The cost of living crisis has hit everyone hard (what kind of world are we living in when McDonald's has put the price of cheeseburgers up by 20p?!), and many people now need to factor that into their travel plans. For me, that means I'm trying to go to all the places I want to visit in my own country of Britain. The most recent city break I had was to the capital London. And although travel costs were reduced for me, it is of course still a very expensive city. However, if you're careful, you can have a great time on a budget. I've tried to break some of this down. And even folks from abroad who have made it to the capital but are still concerned about costs may find some of this advice useful.

Interesting Locations Around Dublin, Ireland
I'm about to embark on a 10-day trip to the Emerald Isle, and I'm counting the days! Like the geeky and adventurous tourist that I am, I enjoy doing more than the "typical" research before I go.

When I landed at Venice's Marco Polo International Airport, the scene was almost identical to Hesse's description, except now it was speedboats -- water taxis and buses -- waiting to pick up guests.
Glasgow: A Link to Scotland’s Past
While Edinburgh might first come to mind when considering what city to visit for a crash course in Scottish history, Glasgow surpasses it in opportunities to delve into the country’s ancient origins, important historical figures, and everyday life from Roman times through the Victorian era. The largest city in Scotland, Glasgow boasts 1,800 buildings listed by Historic Scotland and is a time portal to the country’s past. Here are the highlights.

Cobblestone streets and fresh baked bread. Paris comes to mind. Fresh squeezed orange juice at the Bastille market. Don’t touch the vegetables. They’ll know you’re a tourist.

“Veganism is not a sacrifice, it’s a joy.” Gary L. Francione The United Kingdom is a perfect travel destination for a vegan. Never on the two-week road trip from London to Edinburgh was there a shortage of plant-based food. I quite literally ate my way through London, Bath, the Cotswolds, Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Lake District, Loch Lomond, Inverness, and Edinburgh.

Time Stands Still in Pompeii
Entering the gates of Pompeii, I was awestruck by the monstrous gladiator statue at the base of the mighty Mount Vesuvius. It’s difficult to fathom how such an already-intimidating force of nature was at least three times larger than it is now due to its fatal eruption mid-morning, 79 CE. It was also challenging to understand how I was standing on a location where ships used to dock and made Pompeii a vital port of Italy.

Like most travellers I check out the guidebooks before I jump on the plane. My recent trip to Ireland was no exception. Travelling east to west with Lonely Planet in hand I hit the major tourist haunts. Dublin’s Trinity College and the Book of Kells? Check. The Cliffs of Mohar? Check. The Titanic Experience in Cobh, the final departure point for the ill-fated liner? Did that. Kissing the Blarney Stone? No thanks, sounded like a mononucleosis-spreader to me.

As I mentioned in my last post, I feel as if a part of me is an older soul trapped in this young woman's body who had a past life in Europe. It feels so surreal to me but yet I am having trouble finding the words.

Every May, usually on the 8th, tens of thousands of people take to the streets of Helston for a Cornish festival that’s “bigger than Christmas”. Everything stops for Helston’s Flora and the town goes slightly mad for the day.
I'm Preparing for My Next Adventure & I'm Going Solo
That's right! I'm preparing for my next adventure, and this time, I am taking off to Ireland! Summer is just starting, and I'm already sick of the Florida heat. Walking outside, it feels like I just faceplanted into Mother Nature's armpit, and it's not even July yet. As fair-skinned ginger on the Gulf Coast, I need a break.
