When you conjure up an image of Sydney, what comes to your mind is the bustling city with its traffic, towering skyscrapers, crowded cafes and the large crowds which aren’t far from truth. Sydney is all that, and beyond. And living in such a busy city can impact your mental health in the long run. So it's important that you practise self-care while living in one of the world’s busiest cities. Easier said than done, but it's not unattainable. Here are a few ways you can indulge in self-care in Sydney.

Take yourself out for some ‘me time’

Who doesn’t need a tiny break in between all the hustle? Take yourself out on a date to one of the pretty waterfront restaurants . Or go to Sydney’s healthy cafes where the ingredients are sourced locally and fresh. These cafes not only fill your belly but also your conscience. If you want to be away from the city, book yourself a Sydney Harbour night cruise where you can enjoy your dinner with a good view of Sydney's glorious skyline. If you’re a day person, then treat yourself to a lunch boat cruise on Sydney Harbour instead!

Wander into different worlds in between the pages.

What better way to free yourself than getting lost between the pages of a good book? Of course you can get the books online-they are super convenient and even cheaper. But it is so hard to replicate the feeling of scouring through actual titles, and even bumping into a random stranger who gives you advice on what to read. An actual bookstore offers you that strange calmness that scrolling can never replace. It is a space for contemplation, in a way almost like meditation. So if you are into reading or you just want to skim through the titles, Sydney’s bookshops have a lot to offer. Step out and be prepared to get lost in between the pages.

Spa day is the way

What screams self-care more than a day at the spa? And Sydney has plenty of them. From Venustus to Shangri La or Langham’s Chi, Sydney offers one of the best spa experiences. There is a reason why spas enjoy the popularity they get. A day at the spa is synonymous with being in heaven for a couple of hours.. It improves blood flow, cleanses your skin and is probably the most popular way of stress relief. Most spas have their own brand of quality skin care products. Even the shortest time spent in a spa is a relaxing and a luxurious experience.

Stretch the stress away

With our busy routines everyday moving through the even busier crowds and traffic, we often forget about taking care of our body. When it comes to our everyday life, our muscles get weaker and no longer have the full range motion they once had. This increases the risk of muscular tears and joint pain. Stretching everyday can reduce these risks. Be it yoga or pilates, Sydney has plenty of aesthetic yoga and pilates studios. With serene sounds and a pleasing ambience, taking care of your body becomes easier.

In a world where everyone is hustling from one day to another, especially in a city like Sydney that’s always bustling, it is easy to be negligent about our mind and body. But it is important to understand that it’s not as hard as it sounds. Simple everyday habits like working out, establishing a skincare routine or occasional indulgences like spa or a dining cruise can be a relief to the mind as well as for the body. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you treat yourself with love.
