Must-See Places in Utah
Utah is home to some magnificent places. Here are a few of them you need to see.
Utah… what a place. If you haven’t been to this western state, I would highly recommend making that a priority. From red rocks and the desert in the south to beautiful snowcapped mountains in the north, Utah has a little bit of everything. In this article, we will list a few of the top spots in Utah to visit.
1. Moab
We start in the southeastern part of the state. This isn’t a very highly populated area of the state, but it sure is beautiful. For someone that loves national parks, this place is like Disneyland. Moab is home to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. The formations and structures that you see in this area never cease to amaze me.
2. Lake Powell
While we’re on this side of the state let’s stay here and just drive south a couple of hours. Imagine a huge lake where you are constantly surrounded by red cliffs and sunshine. That is Lake Powell. Oh also, the water is so warm. If you go during certain parts of the summer, then enjoy swimming around in 85-degree water. This is a boater’s dream. If there is a better place on earth to own a houseboat, I don’t know where it is.
3. Bear Lake
Bear Lake, located at the very northeast corner of Utah, has the most vibrant blue water and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is also famous for its delicious raspberry shakes. I can’t promise you the same warm water here that you will get at Lake Powell, but everything else will make up for it.
4. Kings Peak
Talk about mountains. Kings Peak, located in the Uinta mountains, has some of the most unbelievable views you will ever see with clear lakes and high peaks all around you. On a hike through these parts, you will likely find many antlers to collect. People are getting more and more creative with their collections, some even turning them into an antler chandelier for any sized space.
5. Bryce Canyon
Some structures leave you wondering “How in the world did that happen?”. Bryce Canyon is definitely one of those. This canyon is full of pointed rock structures. As I attempt to explain this one, I realize that this one is hard to explain. It is very unique and a must-see.
6. Salt Lake City
While most of the places that make the list for the state of Utah are the magnificent outdoors, don’t sleep on downtown Salt Lake City. In the heart of the city is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints temple. This temple attracts visitors from all around the world every year. Stop by the neighboring museums to learn about the early history of the pioneers that settled in the area. They also have the best family history museum in the world. Next to the temple is the world-class City Creek Center mall. In the evening head down to Vivint Smart Home arena to watch the Utah Jazz in one of the best atmospheres in the NBA.
7. Zions National Park
Last but not least is Zions National Park. World’s best canyoneering, desert waterfalls, bike-friendly parks, and iconic hiking trails make this national park one of a kind. A hike called Angels Landing in this park is one of the neatest hikes that I have ever been on. It is known to be a frightening hike because at one point you are walking along a narrow cliff with only a chain running along the middle to hold onto, but I personally think that people make it sound scarier than it actually is. At the top is a breathtaking view.
Enjoy the beehive state!
