You don’t have to listen to very many songs to hear an artist sing about Beverly Hills, Malibu, or San Francisco. California is the most sung-about state in the United States and for good reason. California has so many things that draw people in. Nice weather, beautiful beaches, great cities, plenty of adventures, the pacific coast highway, fantastic food, the list could go on. That being said, others will tell you to be careful what you’re getting yourself into with a move to California. Things such as the tax rate, natural disasters, crime rate, traffic, and expensive housing are red flags. If you are on the fence about moving to California, we will tell you the best places to live in the golden state.

1. Irvine

Located in California’s Orange County, the city of Irvine presents a family-friendly atmosphere with very nice weather. Irvine is a great place to pursue your career. With the presence of a number of tech and healthcare companies, working professionals have tons of job opportunities to choose from. The city has a projected future job growth rate of 40.2% which means the opportunities for work will only continue to grow. Apart from the job economy, Irvine has great schools, delicious dining, and fun local festivities. According to WalletHub, Irvine is the third happiest place to live in America.

2. Santa Maria

Some argue for northern California, and others argue for the southern half of the state. The truth is, if they met in the middle, they would find some of the best locations the state has to offer. Nestled between the ocean and the base of the Santa Ynez mountains, the county has no choice but to have perfect small-town ocean vibes. Cruising around on the nice bike routes or hiking the trails that run through the hills are nice ways to spend the weekend. Local restaurants like Swiss and Jaffa café will satisfy your appetite. Other local businesses such as Cabinet Painting Santa Maria CA pride themselves in providing excellent friendly service. The cost of living is a little bit high in these parts, but for good reason.

3. Fremont

Close to cities like San Francisco, San Jose, and Silicon Valley, Fremont California is a comfortable city nestled in the bay with a diverse culture. Fremont is home to wonderful neighborhoods such as Warm Springs, Niles, Ardenwood, and Irvington. With such a diverse population, Fremont has some very tasty eats. This is also home to its very own silent film theater and museum that Charlie Chaplin worked for at one point. Lastly, if you decide to call this place home, you will be enjoying wonderful weather all year round. The weather likes to stay around 60 to 80 degrees for most of the year.

4. Redding

Located in Shasta County in northern California, Redding is the 2nd sunniest city in the United States. The majority of the year will be filled with sunshine and beautiful weather. The city also has a really cool bridge, and we all know that nothing makes you feel at home like a cool bridge. The Sundial Bridge cost 23.5 million dollars and was completed in 2004. If you like to be outdoors, then you will love the endless adventures to undertake in the area. Redding was named the “Unofficial Capital of Kayaking” by Time Magazine and a “Top 10 Fishing Town in North America” by Forbes Magazine. Within a 30-mile radius of Redding are more than 600 square miles of State and National Parks and Forests. So, if you like the mountain vibe, then maybe it’s time to pack up your rustic home décor and move to Redding, California.

The Golden State has a little bit of everything. For good reasons and for bad reasons, there is truly no place like it. So, when you decide that you are going to fulfill your dream of becoming a Californian, be sure that you go to one of the places mentioned above.
