For 3 straight days last weekend, I lived out of a car. To be fair, it wasn’t just a normal car, it was a recreational vehicle or RV for short. It was fun and is something that everyone needs to experience, but I will say that I was very excited to get back home.
As I was growing up, I knew that one week of every summer was going to be devoted to scout camp. I never looked forward to scout camp, but that didn’t stop my mom from making sure that I was packed up and ready to go every single year. I usually knew what to expect and my assumptions usually weren’t too far off. Merit badges, campfires, kayaking, setting up tents, hiking, swimming, hot dogs, marshmallows, and night games. Usually, one week was too long to go without taking a shower, but I will say that scout camp did provide some great memories.
Cruisin for a Bruisin
One year ago, I was on a cruise ship in the Pacific Ocean between California and Mexico. With an ice cream cone in my hand and wearing a Hawaiian shirt that was only partly buttoned, I was living my best life. Music was blasting. I was with great people. Surely, this was one of the most fun and social weeks of my life. Little did I know that days later a pandemic would force me to socially distance myself to those that I love most. My gratitude for this vacation only grew as the months of pandemic-living continued.
The Adventure of Middle Adulthood
In the movie Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert is a middle-aged woman on a quest to find meaning in her life. Even though everything in her life seems to add up, she still feels empty and yearns for something more. She wondered what more she needed to do to find satisfaction and purpose? Elizabeth, usually called Liz, demonstrated many concepts and behaviors that are common among middle adults. I wish to focus on midlife crisis, the empty nest syndrome, and friendship.
Does Social Media Make Us More Connected?
It has been estimated that over 80 million lives have been saved because of Penicillin, a drug implemented in 1942. Without this drug, 75% of people would not be alive today because their ancestors would not have survived. The science, technology, and creation of drugs is a miracle. We can all be thankful for the lives that have been saved and bettered because of the research that has been done. Unfortunately, drugs are also misused which leads to many negative effects. The negative effect of drugs was never the intention, but that makes them no less real.
Up and Coming Restaurant Chains
We love food and because of this we have restaurants all over the place. Last year the food industry took a big hit because of covid. While many restaurants suffered, there were many new guys on the block that still managed to thrive, despite the virus. Certain chains such as Starbucks and Subway will always have lots and lots of locations and will be successful, but they better watch out for these up-and-coming restaurants.
