Making Memories

Introduction

Yesterday we caught up with each other in Carlisle. The photo is in the Griffin pub just outside Carlisle Station.

This is where we started our day when we met and shared coffee and tea. We were the first in there at 11 am.

There are about ten of us who meet once a month, all friends and family from the sixties and seventies. This is one of our previous get-togethers.

Usually we meet up in Preston, but Carlisle is another favourite, and we have Hexham and Newcastle planned for future meets.

Wandering Round Carlisle

Carlisle has lots of things worth visiting such as the Castle, Cathedral and Tullie Musiem but Mick had picked out The Bookcase. Brian wanted a pork pie as well.

The Bookcase is a truly amazing place, you could literally get lost in the rooms full of books, although you do need to be able to navigate it on your feet as there are stairs and narrow corridors.

I thought I may find something in the vinyl section, but it was Max Bygraves, Classical, Old Jazz and things I already had in my collection.

While we were looking for somewhere to eat the girls were hungry and so made their way to the Cakes and Ale part of the Bookcase, and that was so good we decided to luch there. It is also easily accessible from the street so Brian could bring is scooter in.

I decided to have soup and a ploughman's lunch sandwich and a ludicrously sized raspberry and white chocolate gluten free cake.

Wandering Carlisle we didn;t take in th ecathedral but we have done that before and will do again.

Wandering back, Yvonee and Debbie visited Hotel Chocolat and we made outr wak for a few dinks in The Griffin.

Conclusion

This was another uplifting excellent day, and we remarked that we were making memories that we would always remember when we we get together like this.

We talked about things that happened in the past, and today and made plans for future get-togethers in Preston, Hexham and Newcastle.

The music in "Roadrunner" by Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers, which Mick reminded me was always on the car stereo, and he had sent me a video of some shindig he was at when it was playing.
