It is no fun to send your kids alone to fly to another state/country. Airlines also don’t favor sending your kids on simple flights too. Connected flights have no reason to give your kid a chance to fly in it, but why? The answer is discussed in this blog in points. Even families with kids can’t control the kids in the flight, how would the unaccompanied kids be controlled I’m afraid?

How can you send the kids unaccompanied to the other states by air? What would be the conditions and limitations? What things you should worry about? And tips you should teach your kids about travel. This blog surrounds all these issues and aims to guide you step by step.

Because I have been living with the Muslim community, the Muslim families who are looking the way to December Umrah are also recommended to follow the tips.

Things to Know If Your Kid is Flying Unaccompanied:

I mentioned several important things with the right information about the flying experience of your unaccompanied kids. Take care of these things and keep your kids on the safest end.

The Standard Age limit of the Kids to Fly:

There is an age limit for the kids to travel internationally if they are flying alone. Above 5 kids are mostly taken as eligible to fly unaccompanied. I have read somewhere that this limitation is longing for kids of 14 years. It means the kids who are between 5 to 14 are eligible to fly without parents or guardians.

If you are sending your kid, he/she should be at least six years and above and should be trained to travel alone with etiquette. A kid should have a sense that with his minor mistake, even big incidents can happen in the air. A kid should have all the emergency tools and should know its use.

An incident You should know about:

This happened back in 2016 in the New York, that the mother received a kid but couldn't recognize him as her child. That means the kids misplaced. Her kid had been mistakenly sent to the other city and a kid of the other family have been received by her. This moment was so shocking for her and a surprise too. And that happened in the New York where the airline mistook with the kids. You should be aware of this event and should interact with the airline staff in detail about the safety of your kid. What should be done to secure your kids from mistaken? There you go.

Don’t send your kids to the Connected Flights:

Connected flights don’t take your kids first of all. And if you are sending your kid, by the way, don’t send. Your kid would not be provided with the attendant on the layover and that can create an issue. By not trusting the air staff and your kid, do yourself a favor and save your kid. Your kid is your responsibility for taking care of him/her is on you.

What you Have to Pay for your kids to Fly?

Accompanying the kid's costs normal, but if your kid is unaccompanied, it can cost you high. The normal fare estimation for the unaccompanied kids is around $150. This can vary on the location you are traveling from and traveling to, airline services, and the normal fares in dollars or Euros. You can check the online fares of the minors and also check for the unaccompanied kids.

Don’t Send Your Kids on the Night Flights:

The airlines don’t recommend you send your kids on night flights. Mostly there is a day circle and airlines don’t take unaccompanied kids on their last flights of the day. That has a reason and that is, the staff cannot guarantee you to take care of your kids in the night time. They can disturb the other passengers by not sleeping and screaming. Better is to set a time when your kid can leave the home in the daytime and can reach the destination in daytime or in the evening. The important thing here is to consider the ideal time for the kids to fly. They will be attended well by the air staff and can be received on time.

Special Pick and Drop:

Because your kid is traveling unaccompanied, you should get access to the plane seats as parents or guardians to take care your kid and see off while the plane would be talking off. You can ask a person on the arrival to do the same job. Your kid would not be able to manage with the luggage so they should reach the airplane gate to welcome the kid and accompany him/her to the home. It can insure the security and protection of your kid.
