India itself is a diverse land with almost all types of geographic forms in the world like coastal, desert, hilly areas or Artic like icy and cold regions in different parts of this country. Kerala is the southern part of the country and geographically it is thick and evergreen forest. The land once called as "land of spices" by the Greek, Roman, Arabian and later by European people. Being Top position in the country in many aspects like education, standards of living, health care, etc.. its culture is different from other parts of the country. Many famous tourist destinations are well known internationally as these are exposed by the international travel media. Here I am going to familiarize many other tourist destinations with valuable information, but which are less known to most of the outside people.

Cheruchakkichola Waterfall, Erumapetty.

his is a small Waterfall near Erumapetty and water will be available in rainy season only. From the nearest road, the tourists have to walk about 1 km inside the forest to reach the destination. Really a natural beauty with plenty of rocks. Best place for trekking for 2-3 hours. No other facilities are available.

St. Francis Xavier Forane church, Velur.

his church was once the headquarters of the famous German missionary Father Arnous whose contributions to the Malayalam language literature was precious. An old church in Gothic model with old church arts. So it is a historic place than tourist.

Eyyal ancient rock caves.

This site contains ancient rocks and caves meant for the buriel of the people lived thousands of years ago which is under the control of the Archeological survey of India now. Researchers mined old "Roman gold coins" from the site, an evidence to the business relationship of the native people with old Roman empire. This is another historical place.

Kudakkallu parambu Chiramanengad.

This is the historical rest behind of the centuries old cultures . The umbrella shaped rocks seen in this location are the buriel of the people lived then. Comes under the control of Archeological survey of India. This type of structures are also seen in places like Chowannur and Kandanassery near Guruvayoor. This is best place for those are interested in history.

St. George Syrian Orthodox church, Kunnamkulam.

Located in Adupputty in Kunnamkulam, this church is a main one of the Eastern Christian community of India. This community known as Syrian Orthodox Christian is a part of Syrian Christians found in Iraq, Syria and India and the feast and festivals celebrated in the church is famous one. Just like in Hindu temple festivals, here uses elephants for the function. Every year October 27,28 will be the festival days. This is celebrated with music and band. So much crowded then. The church art shows the cultural depth of the old periods. This is a religious, historic and tourist place.

St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Cathedral, Arthat.

This is one of the rare church in kerala where ancient art is still preserved. The cemetery here is supposed to be one of the largest in Asia. This church which survived the crucial attacks from the Mysore kingdom under Tippu Sultan rule. The festival is celebrated here in September 7,8 every year and is celebrated in large scale with music bands.

Wayanad - the hidden gem you must explore!

The best time to visit Wayanad is considered to be from October to May. November to February is the winter season here ensuring pleasant weather. You can take wildlife tours, go trekking, and enjoy all the outdoor activities without worrying about rains or heat. In October, the rainy season has almost ended and you get to see the breath-taking natural beauty of Wayanad. April and May are the months considered to be the off-season. Even though it is summer, the temperature will still be bearable. You will get discounted hotel prices, lesser tourists, and of course, all the peace! But I would love to go to Wayanad in monsoons when the landscapes are flaunting all the lovely shades of green! Of course, it is not exactly the best time, but it definitely will be eye-soothing!
