If you're dreaming about post-pandemic travel, Puerto Rico may have popped up on your radar. Puerto Rico, dubbed the Island of Enchantment, has so much to offer. You'll have access to beautiful beaches, a rainforest, historic architecture and world-class shopping. Puerto Rico is still rebuilding after Hurricane Maria, so stimulating their tourism is an added bonus. Here are six tips on the best way to travel to Puerto Rico.

Get Yourself in Shape

Before you travel to a tropical destination, it's a good idea to get yourself fit for adventure. Many people start walking and working out before a trip. To supplement your exercise routine, you might consider taking Thrive. If you're asking yourself what is Thrive, it's a supplement designed to give you energy and help with weight loss. Once you get into shape for your trip, you'll be ready to move all day long and enjoy activities like hiking, swimming and dancing the night away.

Pick a Date

Puerto Rico boasts warm, summertime weather all year-round with temperatures rarely going below 70 degrees. However, when choosing a date to travel to Puerto Rico, try to schedule your trip in the spring to early summer. Hurricane season starts ramping up in the Caribbean from late summer to fall. Try not to schedule during that time or you could risk a rainy trip or cancellations.

Fly or Sail

Since Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean, you'll have to fly unless you're planning on visiting as part of a cruise. Puerto Rico has several airports, but the most used are San Juan, followed by Aguadilla Airport, both which are international. Before purchasing your airline tickets, search with several different travel sites as there are great deals to be found leaving from most major U.S. cities.

Choose Activities

Puerto Rico has a lot to offer, so explore your options. Their stunning coastline will thrill your inner beach bum. Many pristine beaches are also located on small, nearby islands such as the famous Flamenco Beach. If you've always wanted to visit a rainforest, Puerto Rico has that, too! El Yunque National Forest is the only tropical forest in the U.S. National Forest System. You can take a tour, hike or go ziplining. For history buffs, you won't want to miss strolling through Old San Juan.

Organize Paperwork

Since Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, you won't require a passport, just as Puerto Ricans don't need a passport to come to the States. Of course, a passport is still the best form of ID when traveling and if there's a chance you might visit a separate neighboring island country, you'll need it. If you're visiting Puerto Rico exclusively and don't have a passport, bring a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or proof of permanent residency.

Make a Packing List

While it's still early, this is the time to create a packing list. There's nothing worse than getting to your destination only to find you've forgotten something you can't be without. Start your list with clothing, including beach and hiking apparel, and at least one dressy outfit. Go for clothing that's lightweight, easy to pack and goes together. Next, list the personal products and medications you'll need. Last, write down your carry-on requirements like money, credit cards, ID, tickets, phone and a charger.

Start Planning Now

With beaches, a rainforest and rich history, Puerto Rico really is the Island of Enchantment. Now is a great time to start planning your trip by exploring activities, searching for travel deals and getting yourself fit for the adventure that awaits. Once you visit Puerto Rico, you'll want to go back again and again.
