When talking about travelling to Southeast Asia and exploring the giddy and chaotic delights of the region, the first thing that comes to mind is Thailand. The country has done so well over the past few decades that it has become one of the most visited travel destinations in the world. Bangkok, the capital, is a shopping paradise with malls and street markets, and Thai islands are a dream for water sports enthusiasts. So, here’s how you can explore Thailand.

The best of Bangkok

Ancient temples, street markets, river canals, floating markets, museums, and shopping malls are a few things that appeal to tourists. To explore all these attractions within the shortest time period possible, you should join a tailored tour with a guide.

Bangkok is the most popular region in Thailand, and with good reason. The city brings an eclectic mix of things to do and see. Every square mile of the city is filled with something that stands out in the eyes of tourists. A hotel Bangkok, Sathorn, has to offer is the best accommodation choice for anyone wanting to stay close to transport links and major tourist attractions. The likes of Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok are among the many options that the city offers you.

Explore the ancient cities

Plan a day trip to Ayutthaya from Bangkok to see some of the famed ancient ruins that go back to the Kingdom of Siam. The city sits on the top of a volcanic mountain in the central north. Here, you’ll also find an important historical site: Sukhothai, a Khmer historical attraction.

Diving, snorkelling, and island hopping

Thailand has over 1,400 islands, which means that there are plenty of opportunities for island hopping, snorkelling, and diving. Phi Phi Islands, Ko Lanta, and Similan Islands are a few suggestions for an island-hopping tour. Koh Samui, Ko Phangan, and Ko Tao are a few other islands you should visit for water sports like snorkelling and diving, or even if you want to just relax on the beach.

Take a cooking class

Thai food is known the world over for being sweet, spicy, and sour. It’s a delicious combination that makes tourists fall in love with Thai food. While you should definitely visit street markets and restaurants to enjoy Thai food, you should also make an effort to make a dish or two.

One way you can do this is by joining a cooking class. There are many cooking classes meant for tourists. You’ll be given the secret recipes and even taken on a tour to shop for ingredients.

A traditional Thai massage

Can you say you’ve been to Thailand if you haven’t taken the time to get a traditional Thai massage? You cannot! Thailand is home to spas and massage parlours of every description. It’s true that some massage parlours have a dubious reputation, but there are many good ones as well.

Most Thai spas use Ayurvedic treatments, yoga, and acupressure to bring you to a state of complete relaxation both physically and mentally. So, make sure you use your time in Thailand to get a massage or a spa treatment.

Street markets

Thailand is home to a multitude of street markets. There are night markets that stay open all night long and day markets that attract groups of locals as well as tourists. You can pick up anything you want at the markets, from clothes and toys to bags, shoes, and antiques.

You should also try Thai street food, one of the biggest selling points of these Thai street markets. There are stalls bursting with all kinds of food items.

Road trips

Thailand offers some of the best road trips, including the following:

  • Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai
  • Bangkok to Phetchabun
  • Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
  • Chiang Mai to Pai
  • Rayong to Pattaya
  • Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
  • Bangkok to Mae Sot

Make sure to take at least one road trip to one of the ancient cities of Thailand for a glimpse of Thailand’s eventful history.
