Redcliffe is an ideal place for a weekend getaway in Queensland; be you travelling with the family, that special someone or even journeying solo, there is much to enjoy amidst laid-back coastal charm. From lazing on the sands to experiencing adrenaline-pumping thrills, here is a glimpse into the many things to do in Redcliffe on a weekend trip.

Unwind at Settlement Cove Lagoon

A family favourite, the Settlement Cove Lagoon is a great place to chill-out. Kids will love swimming in the artificial lagoon set amidst fig trees and views overlooking Moreton Bay. During the summer season, there is a lifesaver who patrols the area as well. Grownups can also look to have a cooling dip, while this area on Redcliffe Parade has tables for you to enjoy meals as well as spots for BBQs.

Spend Time at Suttons Beach

Of course, for fun and frolic in the sun, sand and surf nothing beats Suttons Beach which is patrolled as well. Another family-friendly attraction, the beach is just a five-minute walk from properties such as Oaks Redcliffe Mon Komo Suites and is also home to the Suttons Beach Park; here you will find a playground for kids and areas for BBQs and picnics too. The beach is ideal for couples as well to take romantic strolls on the shore and catch magical sunsets.

Head Along the Bee Gees Way

If you are a fan of the Bee Gees then you can’t miss the Bee Gees Way; after all, the band featuring brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb started in Redcliffe! A designated 70-metre walkway can be found along Redcliffe Parade with displays which offer information about the origins and rise to fame of the trio. In Redcliffe, holiday apartments near Suttons Beach are walking distance from this attraction which also has a bronze statue of the Bee Gees, perfect for those memorable holiday pictures.

Plan For Essential Activities

There are many “essential” activities worth doing though you should ideally plan ahead to enjoy the best of what Redcliffe has to offer. Those who love water sports and exploring can try kayaking or paddleboarding on Moreton Bay, while fishing is also popular be it at nearby Scarborough Marina or the historical Redcliffe Jetty; the latter is a great spot to catch a beautiful sunset too.

Those looking to gain insights into local culture can visit the Redcliffe Museum, while for something different you can join volunteers at Pelican Park to feed pelicans! On your weekend, don’t forget to also experience something else this locale is well-known for; delectable fish and chips. When Sunday dawns, you can make your way to the Redcliffe Markets (8:00am to 2:00pm) on Redcliffe Parade where you will find stalls selling arts and crafts, fresh produce, yummy food and more.

Embark on Whale Watching Tours

If you are planning a weekend getaway to Redcliffe between June and November then add whale watching as part of your things to do. In Queensland, you have the chance of spotting humpback whales during their yearly migration season and tours to see these majestic marine mammals depart from places like Redcliffe Jetty. These excursions to the Moreton Bay Marine Park generally begin at around 9:30am and last for 4.5 to 5 hours so do plan and book ahead.

Try Some Thrilling Skydiving

For a weekend with some pulse-pounding fun, nothing beats the feeling of leaping from a plane 15,000 feet in the air! Such exhilarating excitement awaits those who try tandem skydiving in Redcliffe which is a must-do for those who love extreme adventures. Amidst the unforgettable experience of freefalling 200 km/hour, you can take in stunning views of the coastal area before landing safely on the sands of the beach.
