Do you ever scroll through your social feeds and dream about visiting faraway lands? But then the realities of life strikes back and you have to put those wonderful thoughts to the back of your mind once more. The mere thought of traveling on a budget can be daunting for many people and put some would-be travelers off. Traveling on a budget can open your eyes to destinations you hadn't considered and make traveling more accessible to people. After all, if you spend less on one adventure, you have more money to spend on the next. Follow some of these ingenious tricks and tips that will allow you to go cheap without missing out on all the fun!

Be resourceful - Plan around off-peak travel times.

Naturally, a lot depends on when you plan on traveling, where you plan on going, and how you plan on getting there. Some places are more expensive! The first tip for traveling on a budget is to do your research. Look for places' that are relatively easy to get to; And where the currency exchange rate is good so that you get better value for your money, or is somewhere that has a lower cost of living than where you live. Remember; that staying in a big city or tourist hotspot is probably going to be more expensive than somewhere off the beaten track! So try if you can to choose less well-known destinations. But if you do fancy visiting somewhere you know will be a bit more expensive, consider renting a place to stay rather than going into a hotel. For example, if your trip is to somewhere amazing like Cape Cod, look for Cape Cod vacation rentals because they best fit your needs and budget. Or choose to travel off-peak times when things will be a lot less busy and crowded. Not only will you save a lot of money, but you'll have it all to yourself!

Decide the route you will take.

If you plan on flying to your destination, remember, flights are more expensive at weekends, because more people are free to travel. Try and fly between Tuesday-Thursday if you can, it will reduce the cost. If you have to travel during the weekend, try and get an overnight flight. It will save you money on a night's accommodation costs, plus overnight flights can also work out cheaper. Read reviews on the area you are staying in and ask the local tourist information center for information on free things to do in the area. It could be that some museums are free on certain days or that there are local events. When you are on your vacation try and avoid spending money on unnecessary tours, guides, or prepared fast foods. Look for local off the beaten track shops to purchase souvenirs because local businesses sell to locals and are far more likely to be selling goods at around 30 to 50% cheaper prices compared to the more touristy shops.

Accommodation

You can save a lot of money if you think about DIY when you plan your holiday. For example, don't take planned tours; work things out for yourself, get guide books, and go to the local tourist information center. Use public transport to get there, and buy your entrance tickets, look for free entrance. Another great DIY tip with your accommodation, if you are in Cape Cod, is to look for Cape Cod vacation rentals, you'll find excellent top quality rentals, where you can make your food, saving you so much money!

Traveling on a budget can be fun digging about for cheaper options that will save you money, which means you could take two vacations! Look for ways to save money by following the DIY rules, use public transport wherever possible, and make your own prepared lunches on days out. Make sure you don't fall for tourist cash-grabbing tours. Look for top quality rentals rather than costly hotels. Especially if your trip will be for seven days or more, so if you're going to Cape Cod, and then look for Cape Cod vacation rentals.
