Insult me if you want, I don't understand why some news outlets in African countries don't seem to link (read news reports from other parts of Africa), it shows when you read some news reports from several African countries. News is reported often times weeks to months later after it has happened, misinformation is spread even by actual news outlets.

I will point this out, that moving to Kenya during a pandemic, it was very easy to notice that Nations Africa news network seemed to refuse to watch world news when it came to Covid-19 news.

The biggest piece left out about Covid-19 in African countries, was that it is a Zoonotic disease.

Zoonotic diseases, also known as zoonoses, are infections that can spread between animals and people. They are caused by pathogens like viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. Zoonotic diseases are very common, with more than six in 10 known infectious diseases in people being spread between people and animals

African countries have their own agencies likened to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), the same way that WHO (World Health Organization) is also working within African countries. Why is the news not reported the same?

During the Pandemic in Tanzania, the former president, John Pombe Joseph Magufuli was a huge Covid-19 denier. He refused to put in place restrictions that would help to curb the spread of Covid-19, which almost every country in the world was doing at that time.

Magufuli refused to shut schools, close borders for tourists and implement mask wearing. He died during the Covid-19 pandemic, however his cause of death was unknown and never revealed to the public.

After 3 Years of Mocking Animals Catching Covid-19 Virus Popular African News Outlet Reports On Zoonotic Diseases

This news outlet mocked Covid-19 and the fact a late president thought the virus was fake

Kenyan reporters were even detained and held in the country for trying to report on Covid-19 in Tanzania.

Meanwhile, hospitals were overrun in the country, there were stories of people being buried in mass graves to hide the amount of death. Eventually he died, many speculate that the 61-year old Magufuli died from Covid-19, which the country labeled as heart failure of some sort.

In many areas of the African continent there is no way to connect to the Wifi (data), even stable electricity is a problem. Which was something that was highlighted during pandemic in several African countries.

Gatmai Kuajien, a man in his 30’s, remembers the struggles he faced to access information, particularly during the pandemic when the country went into lockdown. With schools, workplaces, and religious gatherings moving online, the need for reliable internet access became crucial.

News from Kenya, this news outlets in Kenya is also the same news outlet operating in several East African countries. Yet they refuse to link the East African countries 'Red Eye' cases to each country.

Explainer: What is red eye disease?

Four cases of red eye disease have been reported in Nairobi and Kisii, outside the Coast region where the first case was reported – an indication that the disease is spreading rapidly in the country.

Already, data from health facilities in Mombasa show that 80 patients have been admitted at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH), 36 at Portreitz, 33 at Likoni and over 200 cases from public hospitals.

County data from public facilities show that over 1,000 people have contracted the disease in Mombasa alone since Wednesday last week. The data is from patients who have presented at public facilities, with the majority being school children.

The county has instructed parents with school-going children to keep them at home if they show any symptoms of the disease to prevent the spread of the disease, which is considered too contagious.

The below was posted by a news outlet in Malawi, this was just 3 days ago. This is outlining the spread of "Pink Eye" in the country.

Since the government announced an outbreak of pink eye disease, cases of the disease continue to rise.

The Ministry of Tourism says it has enhanced efforts, in collaboration with players in the industry, to find mechanisms of minimising escalation of the disease.

The development comes as the country has recorded 17,725 cases of the disease in 28 districts as of 18 April 2024, according to the numbers from the Ministry of Health.

In a written response, Ministry of Tourism's Spokesperson Joseph Nkosi observed that, a rise in cases of such disease can potentially impact the industry, leading to negative publicity and decline in tourists' arrivals.

Nkosi said as part of the intervention, his ministry is working closely with stakeholders in the sector in enhancing strict adherence to preventive measures of the outbreak as stipulated in the Ministry of Health's guidelines.

The development comes as the country's tourism sector is still on the recovery path, having been affected by Covid-19, some four years ago.

During the stated period, for instance between 2019 and 2020, the total contribution of travel and tourism to the country's GDP decreased from K435.2 billion to K361.3 billion respectively. Figures from World Travel and Tourism Council show.

The figures further show that the trend started to improve in 2021-- albeit the recovery was slower than anticipated, partly due to the spread of Omicron Variant in other countries

I have made several social media posts about these outbreaks, it not only includes conjunctivitis, it includes Yellow Fever and Dengue Fever. Dengue also known as, (break-bone fever) is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people

All of these are spread through mosquitoes, (except for conjunctivitis) they've been found from West to East Africa as well as in Southern African countries. Oddly I've questioned what is the purpose of the African Union. This seems like issues that should be spread by the African Union.

Below is one of the many videos I've posted on several platforms, I find it very difficult to understand why the media outlets are not linking the spread. Please share this widely and be careful when traveling to any country, African countries or not.

Thank you for reading 🙏🏽 Please consider buying a coffee for Lacey’s House efforts in Gender Equality & Children’s Rights as it tries to move international.
