Nature lovers have it made – there are thousands of places across the globe that you can visit to experience truly magnificent natural beauty, from waterfalls and mountains to national parks and glaciers. There are plenty of places in the USA that nature-lovers will fall in love with. Here are five of the best must-visit destinations for nature-lovers who want to experience the best of what Mother Nature has to offer.

Get out and enjoy some natural beauty while on vacation!

1) Crystal River, Florida

The Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge is a protected area of Florida located to protect nesting areas of bald eagles and manatees. The refuge is made up of two units that were originally created under different laws; today, they are connected by land holdings and managed as one unit. While most visitors come to see wildlife, campers can also enjoy hiking trails at Blackwater River and scrub.

Located along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Crystal River is a nature lover’s dream vacation spot. With crystal clear waters and white sands, visitors can swim with dolphins and kayak through mangrove forests. Hikers will enjoy exploring nature trails that span for miles through pristine state parks. Whether you’re looking to experience something on dry land or under water, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy while visiting Crystal River.

2) Pinnacles National Park, California

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a vast array of wildlife, Pinnacles National Park is your spot. It’s home to various types of wildlife, including coyotes, falcons and quails. Known for its incredible rock spires and balanced rocks, the park features some of California’s most breathtaking views, as well as rock climbing opportunities throughout its 466-acre area.

This rugged land features steep canyons, impressive cliffs and sandy valleys. Be sure to grab your camera—you won’t want to miss these views. Located off Highway 25, about an hour south of Monterey Bay and 2 1/2 hours north of San Jose, you can visit Pinnacles year-round. In springtime, many wildflowers bloom.

3) Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

One of a kind and perfectly pure, Crater Lake is a hidden gem that more people should discover. The lake itself is 1,943 feet deep and boasts some of the clearest water in all of North America.

Crater Lake is known as The Jewel of the Cascades and it has much to offer. Several trails lead around, up, and over Wizard Island, one of two islands located within Crater Lake. The lake itself is very cold year round with ice covering its surface from October to June (which actually makes it a safer destination during rainy season). The Lake is located just outside of Medford, Oregon and so is easily accessible from Interstate 5.

4) Isle Royale National Park, Michigan

A favorite spot among adventure-seekers, Isle Royale is located on an island between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. This gorgeous park offers visitors a chance to explore 1,530 acres of rugged wilderness with nearly 150 miles of hiking trails. You'd enjoy exploring unique forests, hiking over mountain peaks and camping on remote beaches. It’s also home to some of North America’s most unique wildlife, including wolves, moose and bald eagles. It’s a place where you can experience nature first hand and really connect with it.

Another good thing about the park is, it’s right next door to some of Michigan’s most popular resort towns like Copper Harbor and Houghton Lake. There are hotels and B&Bs available, so you can stay on site, making your visit more convenient.

5) Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Tourists flock to Grand Canyon National Park from all over, but really, it’s a destination that should be on every American’s bucket list. It has some of the most breathtaking landscapes ever seen. From standing on its edge to walking along its bottom, you’ll never feel more in touch with nature than you will here.

The park is open year-round, but November through March is your best bet for optimal weather. The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is closed during winter months (December through April) due to snowfall. If you can only visit one location within Grand Canyon National Park, make sure it’s at least one of these: Desert View Watchtower: This tower offers an incredible view of both rims of the canyon as well as desert flora and fauna. If you want a bird’s eye view of what Arizona has to offer, look no further than Grand Canyon National Park.
