fashion
From corsets to petticoats to pants to stilettos, feminism and fashion go hand in hand.
An illustrious ticket
The moment she walked in I felt a bazillion times better. Heels trotting upon the wet tile floor as she motioned quickly in my direction... I’d been waiting for a while. I recognized the scent of Muse on her, donning it like it was her goal to permeate the room with it; nevermind that it left my head in a daze.
Corset
An irksome trend which raised its head in 2020 was the return of the corset. On the catwalks of Paris to our home grown mistress of pop culture style (Kim Kardashian) the corset trend captivated the fashion world. As a 21st century woman I found this trend slightly disturbing - surely the feminist movement had seen us progress past such life DIS-affirming couture, birthed from 18th century whalebone constructions which damaged women's internal organs and pushed her lungs high up in her chest? It seemed incongruous with the advances made in feminine equality - or was it?

How getting Rid of All My Old Underwear Was Lifechanging
I hear my friends talk about their sexy underwear, the corsets they wear on the weekends, the French knickers and push up bras, in general that feel good factor you feel just before getting into bed with their husbands. I remembered that feeling well, ever since my teens I always wore nice/sexy underwear, but after hitting my 40s and my husband throwing away most of my sexy underwear, I seemed to of stopped caring however, I didn’t realize just how much I stopped caring.

Those that know me well understand that hoop earrings are a big part of my aesthetic. For example: I love rocking big gold hoops for a night out dancing.

YES, you read it right. I am about to splurge all my words on ‘Bras’ in this one. WHY?... Really? Because it’s just a few months away from the world entering 2020, and India, ranks #2 in terms of world’s population with 48.2% females, yet is somehow not educated enough to take this issue up. We insist on shying away or simply not bothering to nudge this topic at all. And I hope my readers feel nothing but down right pride after... necessarily my folks.

I hate shopping for clothes. I do not know any woman who does. We may put on a brave face for our friends—lie through our teeth when we say how much we love shopping—but as soon as we are by ourselves in that dressing room, the reality hits. We usually have a pile of clothes that are just the same pieces in three different sizes. Because even if you know what size you are, you never really do. It changes from store to store and even in the same store, you could be two different sizes depending on what cut of pants and shirt you have picked up.
