Michael Rainey Jr.

This is a warning to all who are victims of sexual assaults and rape. If you are uncomfortable reading this story, feel free not to read this. This is an article story takes on Men as sexual assaults.

Actor Michael Rainey Jr. who starred in films: The Butler and LUV and in a current television series: Power and Power II: Ghost was groped without his consent on Livestream on Sunday. The 23-year-old actor made a guest appearance on a Twitch stream hosted by TyTy James. At one point in the video, a woman can be seen entering the left side of the frame and reaching toward Rainey’s groin area, which is blocked from the camera by a child standing in front of the actor. Rainey reacts with an uncomfortable expression and looks around the room before the woman leaves the frame. The actor left the stream shortly after the incident. Rainey released a statement about the situation via an Instagram story.

"At this point, everyone has seen the video circulating online,” he said. “I am still in shock and don’t know how to fully process what happened last night. This is an unfortunate situation that I can't condone in any way. I can’t take it lightly because I know I would be in serious trouble if the roles were reversed. The fact is, sexual assault is never okay, regardless of gender or status,” the actor continued. “We're all human, and we should respect each other. Most importantly, we should always respect ourselves.”

The woman identified as TyTy James's sister. James shared a statement on Instagram as well, apologizing to Rainey for his sister's behavior.

"After the actions that occurred during my stream last night I would like to sincerely apologize to Michael and his family for what took place. My little sister was completely wrong and out of line. What she did was very inappropriate and unacceptable. I am truly embarrassed and disgusted by her actions. I completely respect whatever direction Michael wants to go in this situation. I will take extreme precautions with future streams to avoid similar issues and have banned her from participating in future streams. I do not condone any type of assault."

No word on TyTy James sister. Rainey is still processing and healing from the uncomfortable encounter. However, he isn't the only one that is dealing with groping or SA. Grammy Winner Harry Styles was performing at a charity show at the Hollywood Bowl when he got too close to the audience until a fan groped him causing him to walk away.

Seventeen years ago, Country Singer Tim McCraw was performing at a concert in Louisiana until a female fan groped him. Luckily, his wife and singer Faith Hill blew the whistle on the woman who groped her husband.

Former child actor Jimmy Bennett shares his Metoo story when he was assaulted by actress Asia Argento when he was 17 and her then-partner Anthony Bourdain paid him hush money not to speak to the media or anyone else. Bennett claims that his assault caused him extreme confusion and traumatized his job performance, income, and mental health decline. The funny thing, Argento is a huge supporter of the Metoo movement. Argento denies all claims of Bennett and later claims Bennett "sexually attacked" her. Metoo Advocate Rose Mcgowan showed support for Argento not for Bennett.

Also, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell reveals on Quiet on the Set docuseries as the "Joh Doe" who was assaulted by a former dialogue coach/actor Brian Peck (not related to Josh Peck). During the trial, Peck had support from James Marsden, Taran Killam, Alan Thicke, Joanna Kerns, Rider Strong, Rich Correll, and Will Friedle. Peck was sentenced to 16 months in jail and has to register as a sex offender. After his release from prison, he was able to work in the entertainment industry until he was terminated after they learned about his conviction.

My Thoughts on Rainey Jr's Assault

Honestly, I respect Rainey Jr for speaking out after that uncomfortable encounter. Men are victims too whether it is sexual abuse or domestic violence. Honestly, it is sad that men get ignored as sexual assault victims. It is like if they get raped by a woman, they should "take it" as if "you are enjoying it" or it's just normal sex. I hope TyTy James' sister gets held accountable for what she did to Rainey and she apologized to him. I hope this will be a teaching lesson for her. Men can go through what women can go through as well. We are human beings and us humans deserve respect. When someone says "no" means "no".
