West Africa is trying desperately to remain the worst area in Africa for women, sinking into the worst in the entire world. Religion and culture will kill Africans, as parents, religious leaders of government insist on the most outdated mentalities, practices and abuses all in the name of culture & religion.

Girls statistically face much higher chances of being forced and sold into child marriages. Likened to cattle beautiful innocent and way too young for sex, marriage and pregnancy.

Girls are often time left out of making their own choices due to African "culture" and families belief that they're simply property or wives. Used only for sex, house chores and baring children.

The Gambia is a largely Muslim country, where men are legally allowed to marry multiple women. Girls are often married as children too.

Approximately 96.4 percent of the population are Muslim, most of whom are Sunni; the Ahmadiyya Muslim community states it has approximately 50,000 members. Christians make up approximately 3.5 percent of the population, the majority of whom are Roman Catholics. According to the U.S. Department of Government.

There is a debate in The Gambia on female genital mutilation, where 3 women were recently arrested for the outlawed practice. Upon hearing of their arrest a popular Iman in the country by the name of, Sheikh Imam Abdoulah Fatty. He's called Iman Fatty for short.

He has a history in The Gambia to say the least, for time sakes I will skip to the issues of 2023.

After 3 women were arrested for performing the brutal, disgusting act of female circumcision (FGM female genital mutilation) which many scholars claim is not a sanctioned by the Quran.

Iman Fatty has even said that people who are not Muslims should not be able to practice their religions in the country. Video below of the Iman, who was accused of hate speech towards non-Muslims.

After the arrest of the 3 women activist and former Vice President of The Gambia and Dr. Isatou Touray.

Isatou Touray (born 17 March 1955) is a Gambian politician, activist, and social reformer. A noted campaigner against female genital mutilation (FGM), she became the first female Gambian presidential candidate in 2016, before dropping out to endorse Adama Barrow and Coalition 2016. She then served in Barrow's cabinet, as trade minister, and then as health minister. On 15 March 2019, Touray became Vice-President of The Gambia, replacing her predecessor, Ousainou Darboe in a major cabinet reshuffle.[1]

Since Iman Fatty's paying of the fines his mouth has continued to spew the hate-speech that he's regularly spreading. His words are inciting Gambians to choose sides, some issuing threats, that if the government arrests him they'll have a problem on their hands.

Some proclaiming their support so much so that they would go against their government.

Ignoring the fact that this practice was outlawed in the country and is illegal.

Imam Fatty rips into former VP Dr Isatou Touray over arrest call

Imam Abdoulie Fatty has ripped into former vice president and now head of Gamcotrap, Dr Isatou Touray over an arrest call.

In his Friday sermon, Imam Fatty said: “Isatou Touray does not know the law because if she does she wouldn’t ask the IGP to arrest him. Fight against FGM, the person who announced the fight is that the violent person or the other way around, that’s a question for you to answer if you know the law,” he said.

He also calls for people to boycott anything that has to do with Isatou Touray for eternity.

Meanwhile, he called on Gambians especially the Muslim community to boycott Gamcotrap programmes including its community meeting.

“I called on all Muslim communities to boycott their meetings if they can’t chase them out of their communities whenever they come. They should not be allowed to hold their meetings in your compounds because they are not sent by the government; they just associate themselves to the government.

“Someone who cannot even differentiate the first two Islamic alphabets has no moral authority to say what is accepted and what is not in Islam, you know it is politics. If Gambians believe it is religious then they will put their lives on the line and that is why she said it is non-religious and it is a cultural practice,” the imam added.

According to Islamic relief and many other Islamic scholars there is no reason to practice female circumcision. As a matter of fact even in Saudi Arabia the practice isn't widely practiced, some people in the Southern areas of the country tend to continue the practice. Africans and those is some Asian countries are the ones who continue to practice this brutal practice.

Activists in The Gambia who have also been victims of the practice are fighting to stop the practice in the country for good. However this seems to be an uphill battle when reading the actual thoughts of the citizens of The Gambia, namely the men.

The last comment, "Interesing!! A lot of angry men commenting on this issue, something that don't even affect them."

The Gambia stands with at  119 out 146 countries on the gender index, according to the World Economic Forum. Statistically, culturally, practices that are inhumane are being allowed. These are always directed at girls and women.
