Every Damn Year Ghana's Media & Several Men Make Crude Jokes About Breast Cancer
The joke of a country is always lacking in seriousness when it comes to women, children and girls

Every year October is the month for breast cancer awareness month, which is a time for countries around the world to promote breast cancer screenings and awareness.
In Ghana where women get little to no respect from men, where gender-based violence is common practice in relationships. Also where there. has been an alarming rise in femicides, which I'm positive the country will hide when it comes to showing these statistics. Women are beaten by their male lovers and some police officers have even refused to take reports, calling it a "domestic issue", that should be handled within the home and family.
Women have reported personally to me about the issues surrounding violence at the hands of men in Ghana. The minister of Gender and Children's issue had been missing from the country for over a year at that time. My organization was unsuccessful in reaching anyone within that ministry.
I've written on another platform last year & the prior year about the amount of men in Ghana that posted jokes about women's breasts on their WhatsApp stories and social media accounts. The alarming fact that men are making sexually crude jokes about women's bodies & their health.
There has long standing been an issue with the ignored rape culture in Ghana. A discussion with an older retired Ghanian man, which they call themselves pensioners, he said claimed that Ghana had no "stupid" consent laws, as he reached out and grab a bar maid's rear end.
He continued on telling how he could rape his wife because there was no such "silly" laws in Ghana against raping his own wife.
Every year, October is breast cancer awareness month and every October, Ghana Media along with several Ghanian men make jokes about women's breasts. This year was nothing new, however a Ghanian woman was enraged enough to give an interview where she expressed her anger because once again UTV News Ghana claimed that sucking breasts prevents breast cancer.
Stephanie Benson Slams Claims Suggesting Breast Sucking Prevents Breast Cancer; Deems It Senseless
She went on a popular radio station, even as a cancer survivor, the man continued to make stupid jokes. He continued to make the claim that sucking breasts would prevent a woman from getting cancer. She tried to remain calm but she tried to explained to him again the silliness of the claims.
This claim about men sucking women's breast, was an entire skit and joke session on Ghana's UTV News, this year and it seems to be every year. It's very tired and annoying.
This bothers me because as a woman who's had breast cancer, as well as hd the United States government foot the entire bill of 2 surgeries, radiation treatments, genetic testing and medications. I know that in African countries this might have been a death sentence for some women.
Many African countries don't assist their citizens in paying medical bills, there is no such thing as medical coverage that is affordable either, not in Ghana.
Here's how that works, you choose a coverage but when you go to the hospitals they then claim they don't accept that coverage. It's corruption, plain and simple, they even do this to people collecting a pension, that are supposed to have a coverage plan.
My ex's (Ghanian) father had coverage, yet he couldn't get treatment for his kidney failure. He would often time end up fluid overloaded, barely able to walk or breathe. He was not doing well and they claimed the dialysis would be 1000 cedis, per treatment, most people require three treatments a week.
