USC Wins Big, Norfolk State stops Campbell

USC 90, Hawaii 50

USC's offense got better and better as the night went on during a 40-point win over visiting Hawaii. The Trojans finished the contest in dominant fashion outscoring Hawaii 28-5 in the final period.

Reserve freshman forward Rayah Marshall used her 6-4 frame to lead USC with nine rebounds, while also scoring 15 points and rejecting two shots. Starting veteran forward Jordan Sanders led the winners in scoring with 17 points, including a perfect 3-3 from long distance and 4-4 from the charity stripe. She pulled down seven boards and blocked two shots as well. Jordyn Jenkins also blocked two shots, while collecting three steals, six rebounds and 10 points in just 14 busy minutes of action. Another reserve, Angel Jackson blocked two shots as well, while scoring 11 points on 5-8 shooting. Tera Reed paced USC with five assists and just one turnover, while scoring 11 points.

In the second half USC made 20 of its 33 shot attempts. Hawaii struggled in the second half making just nine of 31 attempts. Kallin Spiller performed well for the visitors scoring 14 points with 10 rebounds and two blocks.

Norfolk State 65, Campbell 49

Norfolk State travelled to Campbell and stifled its offense, forcing 23 turnovers on the way to a 16-point win. Reserve Lacee Savage collected a game high four steals, while scoring five points and pulling down five boards for Norfolk State. Another player off of the bench led the team in scoring and rebounds as Camille Downs posted 19 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 8-12 from the field and also had two steals. Starter Mahoganie Williams had 14 points with nine rebounds and one blocked shot.

Campbell struggled from various ends being outrebounded 37-27 and outshot 46 percent to 37 percent. The top performer for the Camels was Shy Tuelle, who scored 15 points after shooting 4-5 from long distance.

Tulsa 77, Duquesne 62

After the first quarter Tulsa held an 18-16 lead over visiting Duquesne. Tulsa shot 46 percent from the field in the opening quarter as Tulsa's Temira Poindexter scored seven points and Maddie Bittle had five points and two steals in the first quarter. At the half Tulsa led 39-22 as Poindexter posted 10 points on 3-5 shooting in the second quarter. Maya Mayberry scored all 10 of her first half points in that quarter as well.

Duquesne struggled in the first half shooting 5-21, while tallying up just three assists opposed to 10 turnovers. Duquesne fought hard outscoring Tulsa 40-38 in the second half but the first half deficit was too much to overcome. Poindexter finished the game with 23 points going a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line, while coming off of the bench. She also had five rebounds. Mayberry had 20 points at the end of the night shooting 5-11 from long distance. Bittle had nine points, four assists and four steals. Tulsa reserve guard Rebecca Lescay scored eight points, with three rebounds and three assists.

Duquesne was led by Tess Myers who had 17 points, after draining four threes on five attempts.

Georgia Southern 68, Auburn 66

Eden Johnson had 10 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and three steals to lead Georgia Southern to a tight win over host Auburn. Both teams saved their best quarters for the final period as Georgia Southern outscored Auburn 24-23. Mya Burns led the Eagles with 12 points to go along with five rebounds and one block. Ja'Nya Love-Hill scored 10 points, with four assists and one steal for the winners.

Thaniya Marks came off of the bench for Georgia Southern with 11 points shooting a team best 60 percent on five attempts. She also had nine rebounds, three steals and one block. Daeja Holmes also scored double-digits off of the bench with 10 points.

Auburn's Sania Wells posted 19 points, with six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Aicha Coulibaly led the home team with eight rebounds. She scored 12 points and stole the ball twice.
