Highlights
Tyra Gittens of Texas A&M jumped 1.95 while competing and winning the heptathlon at the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She was a silver medalist in the actual high jump competition at the SEC meet. She hit a mark of 1.89, which was second to South Carolina's Rachel Glenn who also hit 1.89 but had fewer misses at the previous height.
USC's Morgan Smalls won her first PAC-12 championship with a personal best jump of 1.83. During the indoor season the freshman placed third in high jump (1.80) at Championships at the Peak before placing eighth (1.81) at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Arizona's Lillian Lowe was runner-up to Smalls at the PAC-12 meet, where she jumped 1.80. Her personal best came at the start of the month, when she hit 1.87 before winning at the Desert Heat Classic. Lowe won her first three meets of the season including the West Coast Classic-Arizona and the Jim Click Shootout.
Lowe won the high jump (1.83) at the Championships at the Peak meet, making Smalls the runner-up. Lowe also competed at the NCAA indoor final where she placed seventh (1.81).
After winning her the high jump in 2019 and 2020 at the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships, Montana State's Lucy Corbett scored her first outdoor title in the event this year with her personal best jump of 1.83. During the outdoor season she earned wins at the Chris Rinne Twilight and the Bobcats & Bengals meets.
Cincinnati's Taylor Beard continued her strong year in high jump with an American Athletic Conference outdoor championship, hitting a mark of 1.82. During the indoor season, she qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Her qualifying jump is currently her career best of 1.83, which she performed at the H-Town SpeedCity Series in January.
Villanova's Sanaa Barnes is the only Big East jumper in the NCAA's top 15. She hit her season's best mark of 1.82 in April at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Collegiate Invitational. At the Big East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Barnes earned a silver medal with a jump of 1.80. Marquette's Lindsey Mirkes won the event at 1.80 but she cleared the height on her first and only try, while Barnes did it on her second.
