As we march through 2022, the track and field season will be here before we know it. When December comes, Winners Only is usually at either Grand Valley State or Indiana covering some of the first indoor track meets of the season. Why wait until December. We're so ready for the track and field season that we're starting our previews in the early days of autumn. Take a break from your college football, NFL, Major League Baseball playoff pushes and even your college volleyball action. Let's take a peek at some of our favorite programs and athletes that we're most looking forward to seeing in 2023.

Jewel Ash

Jewel Ash has become a historic athlete for Charleston Southern. The school's all-time best 400-meter hurdler broke her own school record in the preliminary round of last season's Big South Outdoor Championship meet. Ash ran a time of 57.16 in the opening round, before winning the gold in the final at 57.92. Ash was the lone competitor from a talented Charleston Southern program that qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. During the indoor season Ash was a runner-up in the 400 meters and 1,600-meter relay at the conference championship meet. As a freshman Ash, from Vorhees, New Jersey dominated with three gold medals and a silver. Ash won her first 400-meter hurdles crown along with being a fourth of the 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay. She also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles. On another note from the 2022 season, Ash had a good showing at the Raleigh Relays posting a win at 59.22 in the 400-meter hurdles and a second-place effort in the 400 meters at 54.04, which is her career best to date.

Dylann Core

After competing at Lincoln, Dylann Core made a strong debut for Charleston Southern in 2021. After not recording a win in the indoor season, Core took two medals at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. From Bronx, New York, Core won a gold medal in the 1,600-meter relay with teammates Caroline Edmondson, Amanda Obijiaku and Jewel Ash. She ran her fastest 400 meters time of the season during the preliminary round of the Big South meet at 55.86. In the final she placed second at 56.44.

Chaneal Harris

Hurdler Chaneal Harris returns to add more medals to her collection. She earned her first as a member of the 400-meter relay squad that finished third at the Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2019. In 2021, Harris won the conference championship as a fourth of the 400-meter relay team and also captured a bronze medal by finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles at the Big South meet. From Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Harris scored another bronze medal in the 400-meter relay during last season's Big South Outdoor Championships with teammates Destiny Wallace, Amanda Obijiaku and Brianna Clayton.

Chloe Green

From South Kingston, Rhode Island, Chloe Greene is back after a golden freshman season. The multi-event competitor just missed getting a medal at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, finishing fourth in the pentathlon. During outdoor season she became a two-time champ by winning the heptathlon and javelin throw at the Big South outdoor meet. Green set school records at the Big South Championships with 4,988 points in the heptathlon and a throw of 42.94 in the javelin throw.
