Just About a Quarter of the Way There

As we come to week 4, things are taking shape very nicely in this years NFL, bar a few surprises. But before we get to the predictions this week, it's time, as always, to look at the predictions from last week.

  • Jets @ Browns: One point, as the Browns ride Baker Mayfield to their first victory since December 2016.
  • Saints @ Falcons: Three points, as Brees jumps over the line in OT to win the game by six for the Saints, in what is another big point game.
  • Packers @ Redskins: Zero points, as the Redskins took their chances to take a big win over the Packers.
  • Colts @ Eagles: Three points, as the Eagles edge past the Colts with a touchdown with three minutes remaining to win 20-16.
  • Bills @ Vikings: Zero points, as the Bills provide the shock of the week to annihilate the Vikings, allowing only one touchdown.
  • Raiders @ Dolphins: One point, as the Dolphins kept the bad times rolling for the Raiders, sending them to 0-3.
  • Broncos @ Ravens: One point, as the Ravens overcome the Broncos to move both teams to 2-1.
  • Bengals @ Panthers: One point, as the Panthers beat the Bengals by ten to keep pace in the NFC South.
  • Giants @ Texans: Zero points, as the Giants claimed their first win of the season.
  • Titans @ Jaguars: Zero points, as the Titans won a low scoring game 9-6.
  • 49ers @ Chiefs: One point, as the Chiefs win by 11, and the 49ers lose their QB for the season.
  • Chargers @ Rams: Three points, as the Rams win the battle for LA, and continue their good season, moving to 3-0.
  • Cowboys @ Seahawks: One point, as the Seahawks finally get themselves a win.
  • Bears @ Cardinals: One point, as the Bears make a last minute interception to beat the Cardinals in Arizona.
  • Patriots @ Lions: Zero points, as the Lions win against the Patriots, who drop to 1-2.
  • Steelers @ Buccaneers: Zero points, as the Steelers finally get their season started with a strong first half performance.

So a bit of a standstill with last week, with 16/48 points available coming to me, with a couple of upsets at Detroit and Minnesota throwing me off this week. But it is time for us to look at the upcoming week of fixtures, with the Redskins and the Panthers on their bye week, here come my week four predictions.

Vikings @ Rams

The Vikings do have a chance to win this game, they need to work out the issues that were exposed during their defeat against the Bills, and I can see the Rams exposing these as well. I'm going with a Rams win here.

Win prediction: Rams by 3-7 points

Jets @ Jaguars

The Jaguars were brought back down to earth with their close defeat to the Titans last week, but they should bounce back well to win against the Jets here.

Win prediction: Jaguars by 3-7 points

Dolphins @ Patriots

The Patriots are struggling without Edelman to throw to, but even if they lose this game, you cannot write this team off. I would keep sticking with the Patriots, but I think Amendola may give the Dolphins some hints to beat Brady.

Win prediction: Dolphins by 3-7 points

Eagles @ Titans

The Titans may have won a close defensive game against the Jaguars, but that was not a fun game to watch. The Eagles have Carson Wentz back, and they should find a way past the Titans here.

Win prediction: Eagles by 7-14 points

Texans @ Colts

The Texans have to got to win sometime, and against the Colts could be as good a time as any. The Texans can win this one, but the Colts may just hold on to a close victory here in Indianapolis.

Win prediction: Colts by 3-7 points

Bills @ Packers

The Bills victory over the Vikings has raised a few interesting points about the team, and the impression that Josh Allen has made for them in his two games so far, and I'm going to say that they could get an upset here.. As long as the defence does as well here as it did against the Vikings, the Bills could win against a shaky Packers defence.

Win prediction: Bills by 3-7 points

Lions @ Cowboys

The Lions managed to defeat the Patriots last week, but mostly due to Brady's lack of offensive options. But the Cowboys have not been convincing this year, and I think this could be another Lions win.

Win prediction: Lions by 3-7 points.

Buccaneers @ Bears

This is a tough one to call. Both teams have started well this season so far. But I'm going to edge it out for the Buccaneers, who I think have just enough to overcome the Bears, who were lucky to beat the Cardinals last week.

Win prediction: Buccaneers by 7-14 points

Bengals @ Falcons

I think the Falcons should get the win against this Bengals team. However, they will have to work harder than they think in order to get it.

Win prediction: Falcons by 3-7 points

Seahawks @ Cardinals

The Cardinals came close against the Bears, and Josh Rosen was under a lot of pressure in the final minutes. If they use him from the start, I can see the Cardinals winning at home against Seattle.

Win prediction: Cardinal by 3-7 points

Browns @ Raiders

The Browns come up against a Raiders team who are yet to win, and they should come back to Cleveland with another win. Baker Mayfield had a great showing against the Jets, and I expect more of the same.

Win prediction: Browns by 7-14 points

Saints @ Giants

The Saints are coming off the back of their OT win, and the Giants have finally won a game. This will be another high scoring game, but I'm placing the advantage with the Saints.

Win prediction: Saints by 3-7 points

49ers @ Chargers

For 49ers fans, there will not be much joy for the rest of the season, and that will start with a loss to the Chargers this week, and may continue for a long time.

Win prediction: Chargers by 7-14 points

Ravens @ Steelers

Although the Steelers won last week, I was not totally convinced by them, after almost having to go to overtime anyway against the Buccaneers. But they should be able to beat this Ravens team.

Win prediction: Steelers by 3-7 points

Chiefs @ Broncos

No contest here. The Chiefs should be able to beat the Broncos in the AFC West matchup, and keep the Mahomes bandwagon rolling.

Win prediction: Chiefs by 7-14 points

That's it folks.

Join me again next week, where I'll look back at this weeks fixtures. Until then, enjoy the games.
