Mock Bracket for a 2017 8 Team Playoff

College Football Playoff at the Fiesta Bowl:

#1 Oklahoma 44 versus #5 Texas 23

Texas Qtrs: 14, 3, 6, 0: 23

OU Qtrs: 7, 17, 10, 10: 44

So yeah, Texas played us much tougher and much closer this time. But after a rough 1st Quarter we rallied and managed to hold them to 3 Field Goals after that. The most frustrating thing was that they were taking care of stopping Jalen Hurts from Running the ball, so I had to get more creative in the Rushing Attack.

Scoring Plays:

1st Quarter:

2:38 TD OU: G.Calcaterra, 6 Yard Pass from J.Hurts (G.Brkic kick).

1:20 TD Texas: K.Ingram, 4 Yard Run (C.Dicker kick).

0:28 TD Texas: S.Ehlinger, 13 Yard Run (C.Dicker kick).

2nd Quarter:

5:51 TD OU: R.Stevenson, 3 Yard Run (G.Brkic kick).

0:21 TD OU: R.Stevenson, 2 Yard Run (G.Brkic kick).

3rd Quarter:

4:09 FG OU: G.Brkic, 62 Yard Field Goal.

4:04 TD OU: W.Washington, Interception Returned for 22 Yards (G.Brkic kick). (The Play of the Game! Reminded me a bit of the Roy Williams Superman Play from being a quick strike defensive touchdown. Texas was trying a wide receiver screen and we beat Duvernay to the spot and had nothing but 20 Yards of green grass ahead.)

1:14 FG Texas: C.Dicker, 27 Yard Field Goal.

4th Quarter:

6:27 TD OU: L.Morris, 16 Yard Pass from J.Hurts (G.Brkic kick).

College Football Playoff National Championship Game at the Sugar Bowl:

#1 Oklahoma 35 vs #6 Michigan State 42

Well shit, I guess I'm prone to being Typical Post-2000 Oklahoma, too. I lost the last-game-of-the-year. We started out so well, too. But Michigan State just made the better adjustments and made the difference with their defense.

Michigan State Defensive Player of the Game:

J.Scott: 5 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INTs, 2 Pass Deflections. Since this guy was the difference and their Defensive Leader in every Postseason Game we simulated for them I had to know if he made it to the league or not. He was the Jaguars 4th Round Pick, and he's on the current roster. Number 24.

I guess 3 Titles out of 4 ain't bad. Or 1 out of 2 when you consider the BCS doesn't exist anymore, Praise the Lord. Or 1 out of 1 since we won the one with the current real world format, haha.

So it's been a really fun series and we can finally put our work with the 2019 Roster to bed. Going forward I'm going to try to streamline this process so we don't have a calendar year of real time go by in doing these things. I'm going try to just make it 1 Full Season per Article and see how that goes. It should be more fun for me and hopefully more appealing for y'all.

So the next projects will be going through with the 2nd Season of the SEC Dynasty Mode. Which will be a bit weird because we got way too lucky and CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray stayed for their Senior Seasons. I also tweaked the Conferences. The SEC we had this year was kind of the SEC I'd prefer minus carrying Stillwater with us of course. So I switched to more of what the SEC would want if they could gobble up the best they could. So in short it's OU & Texas added to the West, Alabama & Auburn still shifted East, and Clemson & Miami (FL) replacing South Carolina and the Kentucky/Georgia Tech Spot. You'll have to tune in to find out where everyone else ended up.

Of course my initial reason for doing this was to get OU-Texas to Non-Conference, because to hell with them, right. But seeing how COVID has killed so many Non-Conference Rivalries this year made me rethink. Besides Texas would have to swallow a bitter pill and give up a lot of political influence to even join the SEC so there's that, haha. Plus it forces them to play Texas A&M again finally.

I'm also planning to do a 2020 Roster with 1970 Conferences Season so we can revisit and have some fun with the Big 8. Of course these things will take some time. But hopefully the gaps won't be so big. Plus I should play the games faster since I'm cutting out the Box Scores. As always stay safe and thank you for reading.
