Empty arena wrestling

The good The bad and The quite

Do you remember how it felt when you heard that ALL public activities were suspended? That dreaded oh no feeling!

Like a WWE superstar going to Vince and getting his attention/time pitching a great story for a major push and then they sneeze. It was about 12 days from AEW: “Blood and Guts” in Newark, New Jersey on March 25th. I was selfishly pissed off because I had tickets and I didn’t understand the magnitude of the situation at the time. NJPW for obvious reasons were the first to close down in the wrestling world while both WWE and AEW decided to move forward with empty arenas.

The good:

-Promos have always been a vital part of the story/build and just to wrestling as a whole but now they become just that more significant

-With no crowd to pop or react to we could possibly see someone go from the mid card go to a draw, ya know a diamond in the rough

-You never know who can get over or not in this atmosphere until you try it

-The introduction of cinematic wrestling in the WWE Universe or as I like to to call it The WCU or the UCU (wwe cinematic universe)

(Undertaker cinematic Universe)

-The fire fly fun house and boneyard match was on of best the best things about WrestleMania 36

-The in-ring has been crisp and hard hitting

-The trash talking between the wrestlers is freaking great(more of that) at this point I almost want mics attached to them when all this is over(not really)

-It’s never a good thing when anybody loses their job but I think some people wanted out of WWE anyway

I can’t wait to see what and where the released wrestlers are going to do.

-When things get back to “normal” the wrestling landscape will be very interesting

-Independent wrestlers getting show cased more, now this maybe out of necessity but AEW dark have showcased independent talent prior to this

-NXT has a developmental so they’ve done the same thing before

-This may be out of pure convenience but a lot more NXT talent is being utilized on raw and smack down live

-AEW guest commentators on Wednesday Night dynamite and dark are hilarious whether it’s Cody and Tony talking about old wrestlers, moves, names and Star Trek references or it’s Le’ Champion having to resort to pulling out a utensil to cut a bitch it’s been entertaining

-AEW has some of their wrestlers around the ring to be the audience and it makes a difference

-Makes us appreciate live events and the first one back is going to be electric

The Bad:

-I mean....there’s no (Explicit) crowd So..Yeah ..Fans are the soul of wrestling shows our reactions are just important as what’s making us react.

-Some wrestlers just need the crowd there and some matches have suffered greatly because of it while others have thrived in spite of it

-WWE should have taken a break after WrestleMania 36

-Ratings have gone down for everyone

-I think AEW has a better grasp on the empty arena shows opposed to WWE

-AEW is elusive while WWE can’t color outside the lines at times,

-For the most part WWE have their superstars do everything the same as if the crowd is still there

-It’s not unusual for WWE to make cuts after WrestleMania but with AEW and NJPW out there they’ve been holding everyone close. They recently released about dozens of wrestlers, refs, writers and backstage personal, money wasn’t the issue at all

-The PR for WWE has been straight up not good! From their mass firings, Vince being sued for wrongful termination in regards to the XFL to their lowest ratings in 2020. Roman Reigns name isn’t even allowed to be mentioned on WWE tv because he took himself out of WrestleMania because of his compromised immune system due to his fight with leukemia

-This last one is purely timing but this was an eye opener! On the latest episode of vices “Dark side of the ring” it is implied that Vince helped Jimmy Snuka get out of a murder case in the 1980s. You should just watch the episode and come to your own conclusions. And also check out the Kayfabe Avenue podcast about it called

DarkSide of the ring: Jimmy did that shit

..Once again form your own opinion

The Quite: Conclusion

I’ve been a wrestling fan all of my life, I love wrestling I appreciate it I’m thankful for it. I love it so much that I’m going to get involved with it! .....But...

To be 100% honest though it’s not essential! I enjoy watching it but if it involves my favorite wrestlers and other people being at risk to an invisible enemy NO!

In The future WWE will do a documentary on this situation on the network and I can’t wait to laugh about how they will re write history and say they wrestled Through this to make sure wrestling; Sports entertainment stayed alive. If you don’t believe me go watch the ruthless aggression era documentaries on the WWE network they are great at rewriting history.
