Going into this highly anticipated game - I said that I was taking the Chiefs in a shoot-out. I thought the game would be good, but I didn’t think it would be that good!

That legitimately was one of the best games in the history of the NFL. There were so many highlights and talking points, it's hard to capture them all in a such a brief article.

It Will be Remembered as The 13 Seconds Game

With only 13 seconds to go — with the Bills having just taken the lead, I, like many others, thought the game was over. I didn’t see the Chiefs getting into field goal range, but when you got Mahomes and timeouts, 13 seconds is a lifetime. However - you still got to make the throws and the receivers still got to catch those balls. Any mistakes and you're going home.

So, who do you go to when it’s all on the line? You go to your 2 best and most reliable weapons, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill — both made clutch catches to get the Chiefs in field goal range. Harrison Butker stepped up to kick the field goal to take it to overtime, and that kick in and of itself showed great character.

He had missed a field goal an extra point in the game, so, kicking that field goal was no easy task. Butker is one of the best kickers in the NFL, and when he missed twice — it was a huge surprise.

Josh Allen Had Himself a Game

Shame to see a team lose in a game like that. Josh Allen was simply awesome. His stat line was 300 plus yards, 4 touchdown passes, and over 60 yards rushing — against most teams, a performance like this will be enough to get the W.

If you had told me that Stefon Diggs and Dawson Knox would be held to a combined total of 16 yards — I would have told you that Kansas win easy! Josh has other weapons, and on this occasion he turned to Gabriel Davis, who went to town on the Chiefs secondary for 4 touchdowns and 200 plus yards.

Losing the Honey Badger early in the game to a concussion was a huge loss for the Chiefs D. He is a leader in the secondary, and some players looked lost with Tyrann off the field. That was the opportunity that Davis needed, and he took full advantage of it.

Speaking of Allen, it’s a shame he didn’t get a chance of a rebuttal in overtime. The Chiefs won the coin toss — took the ball, and that was it. The rule needs to be looked at again. The same thing happened to Mahomes and the Chiefs against the Pats 4 years ago. Pats won the coin toss and Mahomes didn’t get a shot, some may call it karma, but it does suck for the losing team.

If the Bills had won the toss, they could have scored a touchdown and ended the game. Josh was rolling in the 4th quarter and the Chiefs were looking shaky in the secondary.

Patrick Mahomes Also Had Himself a Game

Mahomes played at an elite level throughout the game. That Bills D is one of the best D’s in the league, and he shredded it for 370 throwing yards, 3 touchdowns, 60 rushing yards and a touchdown run of his own. Pretty great, by anyone's standards.

More importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over, which was also very impressive. No interceptions are big, considering he had a shaky season with interceptions. He needed to make adjustments, and as the season progressed, the interceptions started to fall off.

He has that check down pass to the running back, it’s always there, and they can easily get first downs with that option. There was a time when all he wanted to do was throw it down the field for huge plays, to live up to the Showtime Mahomes moniker. Teams adjusted accordingly to this, and now he has readjusted again.

He’s also deceptively good at running the ball. He got 60 plus yards and ran for an impressive touchdown. Furthermore, he isn’t afraid to take a hit, and sometimes that can be a bit of the worrying side. Anyway you look at it, Mahomes is playing at a scary high level.

The Supporting Cast

It's hard not to think immediately of the 2 stalwarts, Hill and Kelce, both played all world — it is crazy how consistent they are. Hill’s TD run was a classic and Kelce’s TD in overtime was super impressive — having both those guys is a blessing, and they are a pleasure to watch doing their thing.

CEH made it back and did well, Mckinnon was solid, better at catching the ball this week, found it hard to get any traction on the ground. Hardman and Pringle were solid and both got nice touchdowns. On the defensive side, it’s hard to see many positives when they give up 36 points.

Jarran Reed played well and got some good pressures on Allen. Rookie Nick Bolton is always full of energy, when he’s running downhill, he’s at his best. Hard to pick out anyone in the secondary, as Davis went to town on them for 4 touchdowns. Mike Hughes had a bad day at the office and will have nightmares of that game.

AFC Championship Game

It takes a couple of days to come down from a crazy win like that. I’m sure the Chiefs will now be focusing on the AFC Championship game at Arrowhead next Sunday.

It will be another juicy encounter, as I said a couple of weeks ago, the Chiefs wanted to see the Bengals again in the playoffs, and they will get that chance. The Bengals beat them in a great regular season game, and I’m expecting more fireworks Sunday.
