An emerging possibility for offshore Companies

We all have faced Covid-19 bravely. But now its time to embrace the changes brought by it. We have seen a growing trend in India where people especially housewife, students and retired people are looking at work at home opportunities. Remote work opportunities are best suited for them.

But the problem is that the Indian companies are not much in favor of this. A lot of companies have again started offline work again. But there is a growing need in India for companies offering remote work. Remote work is still an alien concept in India. A lot of new age millennials are still prefer working with companies offering gig work along with remote work option.

This I feel is one of biggest opportunity for all the offshore businesses working in developed economies where remote work is normal. If they just expand to India and offer these solutions to Indians as well, it would be a game changer opportunity for many businesses. Now why should a remote business owner bring his business products and services to India?

The answer is pretty simple. Here are a few reason why they should enter into the Indian market:

1) Second Largest Population:

India is a huge market. With the second largest population in world, we are very good workers as well as have a huge untapped market for remote workers be it technical, content writing or any other line of business.

2) Sizeable Unemployed Population:

India has a huge percentage close to 25-45% of its working population seeking part time, project based, gig work offering work at home proposition or remote working option. Three different groups comprising a large section of the Indian population are looking for such kinds of gigs - work at home mom, retired senior citizens and teenagers or people just about to enter the work force. This makes it a sizeable market yet to be tapped in.

3) For Generating Second Source of Income.

People have understood that it is always better to have an additional income along with your salaried full time job. Covid has taught all of us to have multiple streams of income and not just depend upon your salary. This has opened the eyes of Indians who have started moonlighting or are resorting to digital or online business opportunities for their second source of income. This has led to many scouting for correct set of opportunities especially Internet or digital based opportunity.

4) Changing Mindset of New Age Millennials:

The new working age population entering the workforce largely prefers freelancing or gig work since very few companies offer remote work or value work life balance. They are increasingly driven in favor of gig work since it offers work life balance along with remote working options. Also freelancing offers high income compared to full time salaried job. This changing preferences for work needs to be tapped in.

5)Rising Internet Penetration In India.

With the rising internet access to everyone in India, a lot of people have resorted to connecting with people across the globe. This cultural exchange though conversations has allowed students to learn about possible emerging remote work options available to them through use of internet. This has made them aware of possible use of Internet to provide them to be a global worker rather just work for an Indian company.

6) Rising aspirations of urban Indian Middle class:

With dual earning members of families, the aspirations of urban Indian middle class is rising. From being hardly able to afford the air travel to travelling and working across the globe. The aspirations of Urban India consumer are rising and to fulfill these aspirations, it is better for an Indian worker to be a global worker and earn in dollars and spend in Indian rupees.

So I believe now you must have understood, how the Indian worker is becoming a global worker and looking for remote work opportunities.
