If asked, I would recommend to everyone to have their own business. It can be something small at first.

I'm not saying that everyone should quit their jobs and become an entrepreneur. Not everyone wants that, even if they want to make us feel that way.

I insist that everyone must have something that is theirs, something that pushes them to create. It can be a hobby, a side hustle, or a business. It doesn't matter what.

However, if you want to dedicate a large part of your time and significant capital to it, you want to do it right from the start. The first step is the hardest; so many give up before even failing.

Probably no one has told you this, but your business will not be profitable for a long time. Failure is part of the process, but there are always avoidable failures. You don't have to make ALL the mistakes. Remember: play smart, not hard.

1. You must be present on social media

It doesn't matter if Instagram seems like a place where everything is fake or if Twitter is full of hate; you need them.

It's 2021; 2022 is just around the corner. If you don't know that social media is a must-have for any business, you've been living under a rock.

Have good networking strategies, interact with other creators, and build a community little by little.

2. Build a team

A very common mistake of all amateur entrepreneurs is to believe that they must do everything alone. Steve Jobs complex, some call it.

Even Jobs knew who to surround himself with to get ahead. Ask for help from the beginning; you should not be an expert in everything.

The good news is that finding experts today is easier than ever, thanks to the Internet. You are one click away from a great graphic designer, a talented community manager, and any professional you need.

3. Good marketing is everything

Like social media, it doesn't matter that you're the next Bezos; if you don't market yourself, you won't get far.

If you're like me, marketing can seem a bit overwhelming. "Buyer persona, B2B, leads," they all seem confusing and complicated terms. Luckily, you don't have to be an advertising expert.

Use point number 2 to contact experts to help you create an effective marketing campaign. Unless you're good at it and can do it yourself.

This is where it all comes together, social media, your own website (SEO friendly, of course), and ads.

4. Do prior market research

Before jumping into the pool, you first dip one toe to check the water, right? Do the same before launching your startup.

You must know about the competition. Who your product or service is aimed at, and all the details of a sales plan.

It may seem obvious, but many times entrepreneurs skip this step entirely. They create a product, a brand, and they expect everyone to come to them just for the sake of it. You need a strategy from square one.
