Iceland Store.

Iceland was started as a family firm. The majority of its goods are in chest freezers hence the name. The country of Iceland doesn't appear, to have sued the company over the name, so everything must have been, fine!

So the store started from humble beginnings and spread across the country. Iceland is one of the top supermarkets in the UK. You can not only shop in-store for goods, but you can also, order online. Providing your online shopping reaches a certain amount amount presumably.

Richard Walker was born in 1980 and went to Durham University. After that, he had business interests in Poland. Walker (the son of the founders of Iceland) took over the running of the firm in 2012. Walker tries to keep the prices of goods in his stores low. However, due to the cost of living, the store has had to put up some of its prices.

Iceland is known for selling frozen goods. Iceland also sells non-frozen items such as snacks like crisps (chips in the US). It also sells bread, wine and beer, amongst other non-frozen goods. Iceland remains a popular shop on the high street. Of course, Iceland is not the only supermarket, where the majority of its goods are frozen. Another store that comes to mind, is Farm Foods.

Richard Walker can sometimes be seen on the BBC's political programme 'Question Time'. Many of the opinions he gives, seem, quite popular with the crowd. Richard Walker, is probably a Conservative, politically. That said, the man, does seem like a fair person.

Iceland, like other brands, is known for its festive advertisements. Last year their ad featured Noddy Holder of Slade and actor Brian Blessed. This year's ad features Ricky Astley and Michael Buble'. However, this ad will not be shown now.

The ad has been scrapped because it came to the attention of Richard Walker, that consumers, will not, be spending a great deal.

In light of this, Walker decided it was better to scrap the ad and put the money into helping consumers, with the cost of living. How many supermarket bosses/owners or those owners/bosses of any products, shown at Christmas, would do that?

Walker is a capitalist and I am not painting him out to be a saint. But the fact that he was mindful of people struggling with the cost of living, shows he has, a conscience. Advertisements cost billions to produce and direct. Particularly, when celebs are involved, in promoting whatever brand, the ad is trying to sell. Large salaries are involved when paying stars to promote your product.

Look at the Warburton ad where Samuel L. Jackson plays the owner of the business. It must have cost Warburton billions to do this ad and employ an A-lister like Jackson, which shows the massive turnover, that Warburton is making in profit.

When you see Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Johnny Depp, and Kate Blanchett, promoting men's and women's products, do these stars even need, this money? Don't they make enough money from Hollywood? What about the meet and greets they do? Also, the brands (as mentioned) they promoted and endorsed.

The government have 40 ways to help with the cost of living. However, in most cases, you have to be on state benefits, to access, that help.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not against that. However, it always seems to be the people in the middle who cannot get help. Old Age Pensioners (OAPs) get a lot of help too, and I'm not against that, either. However, pensioners with a good private income do not or should not be able to access such help.

Government help such as loans, grants, and benefits should be the vulnerable. Unfortunately, it always seems to be, the 'Jams' as Theresa May labelled them the 'Just About Managing that fall through the cracks.

So it seems if you are well off you can look after yourself. If you are at the bottom of the pile financially, you are entitled, to help. Whereas those caught in the middle are left to flounder.
