5 Internet Income Streams for 2022

Making money online unlocks a new type of freedom. 

Some are looking for their time back. Others are looking for the flexibility to travel. Whatever your reason is, check out these online income streams.

I find great satisfaction in making money on my own. I remain grateful for the predictable income of a corporate job, but the self earned dollars are so much sweeter.

In 2021, I didn't take this seriously. 

I dabbled in options trading, cryptocurrency investing, and some freelance writing. I spent too much time poking around on the internet and convincing myself it was productive. 

For 2022, I've identified five internet income sources to pursue. I also have an idea of what I hope to earn from each. Here they are:

1. Tester Work

Tester Work is a made up of a community of testers around the world that make money by testing websites and apps. 

They make it easy to apply. Provide a bit about yourself, the devices you own, and pass a short 5–10 minute test. You are given some information to study prior to the test. 

Once they have a new project available for you, an invitation will be sent to your email. This is the stage I'm currently at.

From what I've read, the payout varies pretty significantly by project. It will always be clearly stated in the email invitation. My goal is to make $500 per month using Tester Work in 2022.

2. StrongBlock Nodes

StrongBlock is a blockchain-agnostic node-as-a-service company that rewards node owners for supporting the infrastructure of a blockchain.

Blockchains rely on nodes to validate and store the ledger of transactions. Nodes are important, but not traditionally rewarded. StrongBlock incentivizes node ownership.

StrongBlock allows anyone to support the Ethereum blockchain by purchasing a node for 10 STRONG tokens. In return, the owner will receive a payout around 0.1 STRONG per day.

At current prices, a node costs around $5000, and the daily payout is ~$50. This is subject to change as the token price fluctuates and the company decides on a more sustainable payout model.

I own a node and expect to earn ~$1500 per month from STRONG rewards. This is almost 100% passive income.

3. Upwork Content Writing

Upwork is a freelancing platform I'm sure you've heard of. They have over 12 million freelancers and around 150,000 clients spending at least $5,000 a year. 

Upwork is great because of its liquidity. What I mean is the job postings are abundant, especially for content writing. There isn't enough time in a day to keep up with all the jobs being posted.

The platform primarily operates by having the freelancers submit proposals to client's job listings. For new writers, this gives you a fighting chance to be seen in the pool of submitted proposals. Make it stand out and you're golden.

I expect to earn $1500 a month on Upwork gigs in 2022.

4. Buying Websites on Flippa

Flippa is a marketplace for buying and selling online businesses. Flippa has a wide array of listings, from eCommerce websites to traditional blogs.

I want to purchase content websites on Flippa in the $1000-$5000 range, and grow them with improved content, SEO, and additional monetization methods.

Quality websites usually sell for 20–35 times their monthly earnings. You could expect a $3000 site to be making $85–$150 a month off of affiliate links, ad space, digital products, etc. 

There is a lot to learn about website ownership. It's critical to perform due diligence before buying a site. This is where I'm currently at in the process.

I will be working to earn $100-$500 a month from owning a website in 2022, depending on how well I am able to grow and monetize it.

5. Medium's Partner Program

Medium's Partner Program pays writers who have at least 100 followers and one active post. Medium members pay $5 a month to read on the platform, and they distribute some of this to writers who capture the attention of members.

Earning a significant amount on Medium is challenging. You have to write consistently, and bring real value to readers. You are rewarded by how much time they spend on your posts. 

In 2022, I'll be challenging myself to write almost everyday on Medium, and submit to a variety of publications. My goal is to earn $100 a month.
