Cashless for 24 hours in Shenzhen China
The perils of travel in China are not what you might expect: the ubiquitous police presence, the surveillance cameras on every street corner. No, for a tourist carrying their only passport and all their credit cards in a cheap backpack slung over a shoulder, a heavy security presence debatably works in their favor.

Years ago we traveled from Boise to Nashville. AAA had a tool called triptik that provided turn-by-turn directions. One year ago, we began planning a cross-country trip and positive memories of that that trip sent me back through their door. After a discussion with the travel agent, we subscribed to a one year membership. A year later we canceled our membership.

A recent study reveals that providing omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid supplementation to prematurely born infants improves visual capacity up to the age of two and a half years. This study conducted between 2016 and 2019 included 178 extremely premature infants born before the 28th week of pregnancy. The supplement not only reduced the risk of vision-threatening eye diseases but also enhanced visual stimuli interpretation in the brain. These findings could potentially impact new guidelines for neonatal care. Key Points: The study involved 178 prematurely born infants in Sweden, and it was found that those who received a combination of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids showed improvements in visual development up to the age of two and a half years. The dosage of omega-3 and omega-6 reduced the risk of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), an eye disease affecting premature infants, by half. The benefits of the supplement extend beyond retinal health, leading to improvements in the brain's ability to process visual stimuli. Source: University of Gothenburg Administering a supplement containing a combination of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to prematurely born infants has been shown to enhance their visual capacity until the age of two and a half years. This discovery stems from a study conducted by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Published in The Lancet Regional Health Europe, the study included 178 extremely premature infants born between 2016 and 2019 in neonatal units at Gothenburg, Lund, and Stockholm universities' hospitals. About half of the infants received an oral nutritional supplement containing a balance of the omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid (AA) and the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). There is no AA or DHA in the supplements commonly given to very premature infants shortly after birth. Researchers found that this supplement halved the risk of retinopathy of prematurity (RP), a vision-threatening disease. This study focuses on the visual development of children of the correct age (i.e., estimated age after birth). See how children's visual development progresses. Improved Brain Interpretation of Visual Stimuli Piya Lundgren, the lead author of the study, is an Associate Professor in Pediatric Ophthalmology Research at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and a Chief Physician at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
