Zac Goldsmith: Would Consider Backing Labour.

Former Mayoral Candidate Zac Goldsmith.

Tory Peer: Zac Goldsmith.

Zac Goldsmith stood as the Mayoral Candidate for the Conservatives against Labour's Sadiq Khan. Subsequently, Goldsmith lost to Khan and since then, thanks to one Boris Johnson, Goldsmith has been a Tory Peer.

Zac Goldsmith is an alleged advocate for animal welfare and the environment. Goldsmith championed Johnson's policy on climate change. Whether Johnson was serious about climate change or not will never be known. Certainly, His Father, Stanley is an advocate of the environment and other species. His sister too, seems to be of the same belief. As to His brother Jo who knows? But if Boris's climate change policy was a fantasy or a lie (like many other things he said) then We and Mr. Goldsmith have been hoodwinked.

Zac was brought into the government by Rishi Sunak. Presumably, to advise on Sunak's climate change and environmental policies. However, Goldsmith resigned in desperation at Sunak's feckless lack of movement on these policies. In His resignation letter, Goldmsith said He was horrified at the government's lack of progress on this. Goldsmith said, "There is no pathway to net zero, there's no solution to climate change that does not involve nature, maximised efforts must be made to protect and restore nature".

The Tories according to Mr. Goldsmith will not meet their projected spend of 11.6 billion Pounds to lower emissions that contribute to climate change. Of course, the Tories responded with the fact they were on track with their climate change policies. Of course, they would though wouldn't they?

It seems Zac is considering jumping ship to Labour. Yes, dear reader, you heard that right. Goldsmith is looking to Labour to reveal their environmental and climate change credentials. Mr. Goldsmith said, "I'm not hearing that from Labour right now. If I do I'll throw my weight behind them and support them any way I can".

It will be interesting if Mr. Goldsmith will change from a Tory to a Labour in the House of Lords. The question is would Labour even welcome him? No doubt, if Mr. Goldsmith did jump ship Labour would welcome him aboard. Seeing it as a huge scalp against the Tories and Labour would trumpet it to the rafters and why not? Parties across the board will trumpet political advantages over their enemies. That's politics for you, it's a competitive game, with one party trying to gain at the other's expense. Parties will use whatever ammunition they have or gain to get one over on their opponents. Even if that means a former Tory going to Labour or vice versa. That is a victory because if a Tory (or the other way around) leaves for Labour it usually means they are dissatisfied with the Conservatives.

If Zac does indeed, leave for Labour, the question has to be asked is he genuine or is it just sour grapes or both? Sour grapes because he couldn't get Sunak to change tack as he sees it on climate change. Or is it a cynical ploy to show He is one of the good guys in joining Labour? Either way, Labour will hope his joining the Party will be a nail in the coffin of Wishy-Washy-Rishi's administration.

I have no opinion either way on Goldsmith joining Labour. However, if His joining the Party leads to another support for Sunak's government being removed I'm all for it. Sunak, as I said before, like Satan, knows His time is short. It seems despite losing Allies like Goldsmith and dire poll ratings Sunak ploughs on regardless. Like Captain Smith of the Titanic Sunak He is sailing into the iceberg. Whether Captain Sunak can steer the Good Ship Britanic (that was actually the name of Titanic's sister ship only in this case Britanic means: the UK) remains to be seen. I personally hope not, and Sunak and His feckless administration hit that political iceberg. Sinking His career politically and taking the Tories with Him.
