Washington DC's Hypocrisy

It knows no bounds.

A divided Washington

There seems to be a disconnect in Washington D.C. and the rest of the country. Of course Hollywood is just as disconnected, but there is a clear double standard between "them" and "us." From the way they treat women, to the way they think they know what is better for us, to the way they expect we don't realize what they do behind closed doors in the deal making arena that is politics. They treat the average American citizen as a personal bank and like puppets, here to do what ever they deem necessary to make them happy. We can most clearly see this in the way the immigration topic is being handled, right now.

Our illustrious leaders have been debating the topic of immigration for decades now. As long as I can remember, and I am 38 years old, it has been a hot topic. The fact of the matter is, we have laws on the federal books now, and they tell us exactly how to deal with this very situation. The problem is for to long, they have been ignored. That's right, our leaders have chosen to ignore the laws they don't like, even though they wrote them! Hypocrisy at its best! While there are many issues around immigration, and the legality of it all, the hot topic this week is separating families. Let's take a look at that and see what is real, and what is fake.

On September 30, 1996, Bill Clinton signed the immigration reform bill into law. This stated, among other things, that the children of illegal immigrants were to be held until such time that a suitable family member, family friend, or approved foster, could take possession of the child.

Fast forward 22 years, and that is the very law that is being enforced, and the liberals are outraged. How dare a President uphold the laws of this country! You see they were cheering it in 1996, though. It was a smart piece of legislation that would get us on the track to reform and handling the problem with illegal immigration. It is a fact, however, that the photo that is viral is one from the Obama immigration era, and it was widely defended by the very people demonizing it today. Have they forgotten it was a picture that was hailed as heroic a few short years ago? Or perhaps they assume the people have forgotten, and therefore it can be used again, this time to further their cause. People, the truth is this, neither side cares. That's right! Neither side cares. It is merely a political ploy to get you to either side with them, or not. They don't really care about separating families. Think about it.

If they did, wouldn't it be fair to say the laws on the books for every crime we have in this country should be changed? Why, you ask? If this is really about keeping families together, then it is fair to assume the same goes for families of convicted criminals. When you are taken to jail and sentenced, a family is ripped apart. The children are left to decide if it is fair or if they will see mom or dad or brother or sister again. That is the argument being placed for illegal immigration. It is fair for US citizens to be treated equally, is it not? Of course it is not. They already know how you are going to vote, or not vote based on laws that have rightfully stripped you of you right to vote. However, these people that are here illegally? Well they are an untapped resource of massive political influence, and they must be exploited and protected at all costs, so the politicians can benefit. What about you and me?

If you commit a crime, do you think they will take your family into account upon sentencing? Let me tell you, they won't. You see, you are an American citizen, one of the most discriminated against, most hated, vile creatures on the planet. You have everything that everyone else wants in life. Therefore, you must be willing to give up certain things in return for that luxury. It feels as silly writing it as it does to hear it, or read it, but it is, sadly, the truth. We live in a country that is great, but the politicians would rather see it in shambles to keep their power, than do the right thing for their constituents and people they claim to represent. We live in a time that sees criminals and people from other countries that knowingly break the law to enter, held in a higher esteem than we are. When a man is arrested for shop lifting, in many areas of the country, it is because they are truly trying to feed their family. That doesn't matter and they are arrested, and sentenced. Yet that is the exact talking point that is used to make illegal immigration right. If it is not good enough for a citizen, it is not good enough for a foreigner.

Our President is trying to give the country back to the rightful owners, the people. The rank and file politicians are fighting him every step of the way. You may not like the man personally, but ask yourself, what has he done to hurt you in the year and a half since he was elected. I bet most of the people who are reading this and don't like the man, can't honestly come with a reason. Is our economy getting back on track? Is our stature in the world returning? Is unemployment down? Is the stock market back to record highs? The answer to all these questions is yes, whether you admit it or not, whether you like it or not, is irrelevant. Why are so many people so quick to hand the seat of power to those that would see us harmed, so they can profit form it? That is one of the definitions of tyranny.

The media is no better. All you hear is how evil we are for trying to enforce our laws. Every interview that has been conducted recently, has the same overwhelming tone to it. We are evil and they are not, and we need to capitulate to them so they can have what we have, even if it costs us everything. Ladies and gentlemen, I simply refuse to accept that! That is not how we got to be the country we are today, and that is not how we will keep our country. If you are willing to give everything you have to others, great, but ask yourself this question: How many of the politicians and celebrities and talking heads in the media and on the TV are taking these people in? NONE! But you are expected to set the example, not those with the influence and money to do it. YOU! Search your hearts and ask this simple question. What is right and what is wrong? What will benefit our families the most? If the answer is to take in more mouths, then be the first to set the example and take them in. Americans are quick to judge, but slow to act. That is not a slap at us, it is the honest truth. Unless it benefits us, we don't want to do it, but we want to force others to.

Here's the thing about this whole debacle, we didn't separate these kids from their parents. That's right, most of these kids were sent to the border ALONE with no supervision. I can have sympathy for the situations they are going trough in their own countries, I really can. What I can't sympathize with is the fact that we are demonized when we have taken them in, given them FREE education, FREE health care, FREE food, and FREE shelter. We don't do that for our own down trodden, but it's un-American to deny this to foreigners. Let that statement sink in, folks. We ignore our own hungry and poor and homeless in this country, but feel the need to help the very same thing from other countries. We should have pulled out of the UN Human Rights Council, because that doesn't sit very well with human rights does it? We feel that we have to help everyone else in the world, but ignore our own, why? Because it's the right thing to do? I know people who have honestly needed the help, and it was denied to them by our government, but it is handed over free will, to illegal immigrants. Until this changes, we will never be a top country again, because we won't let it happen.

There are legal ports of entry into this and any country. There, you are processed and the system begins the process of making you a citizen. Is it expensive? YES! But that is the price you pay if you really want to be a citizen. You keep the money you make in this country. You pay taxes so others can benefit from the same services you did/do. Some people can't help the situation, and I get that, but there are services in place for them too. What happens when an American wants to declare citizenship to another country? There's a long, drawn out process, and if you try to circumvent that process, you will be thrown in jail AND SEPARATED FROM YOUR FAMILY! No one is saying that is inhumane and it needs to stop. Why? Why are we the only one's expected to bend our laws for the benefit of others? America is a beacon for most people, but it is also a place for fraud and incredulity and crime, and that is what we should be trying to prevent. Think about it, not with your heart, but with your brain, and ask yourself this question: Would you let someone knowingly violate you, because it would benefit them, at your expense? I bet the answer is no.
