The Gun Control Lie

The lies that both sides are telling you

There were two horrific shootings within 19 hours of each other this weekend. This is a tragedy and no one should have to endure this in their lifetimes. The fact that the media and the left are trying to get you to think this is an "alt-right" radicalist. The problem is they have only told you the bits and pieces that further their agendas. The question that should be asked is why are there only excerpts from the note being read on the news? Now once more let me state, I am neither left nor right. I am unaffiliated and I am more than capable of making up my mind. That being said sure I lean more right of center than left of center, but the fact remains I can make up my mind for myself.

This weekend was a tragedy and I agree it has to stop. I agree we have to find a way to help these people and get them the help they need. I agree we have a culture of violence in this country. I also think we need to hold the responsible parties responsible, and not politicians, not the police, not the military, not pop culture, and not tools and weapons. You see, I have a few guns myself, and I have left them alone with a camera on them several times. I did this because if I own one of these assault weapons that are so violent, I don't want them in my house with my family. Do you know something? It never once got up and attacked or shot someone. It never once hunted people down in an insatiable thirst for blood!

No, this tragedy is being used for political fodder. Every single political candidate on the left stood up in defiance of the Trump administration and demonized him for causing this, despite that not one single politician has yet to pull the trigger in any shooting, ever! If you take the time to look up the "manifesto" of the Texas shooter and don't edit it to suit your political agenda, you very clearly see it was leftist talking points he referenced all through the writing. But that is not something you will hear on the MSM. No, no, they will tell you the evil right is responsible for this and the rhetoric is the reason he attacked those people. They will also tell you it was about "killing Mexicans" as one candidate put it. There were 20 people killed Saturday in El Paso! 20! Of those, only 6 were Hispanic and in fact, were Mexican! 6! This was a crime of opportunity and it is just that simple!

I am well aware that the Dayton shooter was clearly unhinged. He was on record threatening people, and he was on record expressing wishes to rape and kill people. He was suspended from school. Now the system clearly failed him and the victims in this case! There is no doubt about that. He needed to be put away and instead of punishing innocent people by taking their rights away. Luckily the police were there when it happened and it only took about 40 seconds to stop him.

Now there are several ways to help curb this problem. There are too many to go into detail on. What I can tell you is labeling those who suffer from mental illness is not the answer. IF YOU MURDER SOMEONE OR SEVERAL PEOPLE, YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL! Whether that is diagnosed or not is an irrelevant point. When will people open their eyes and see that politicians are the ones that are flaming the fire? Not the president, politicians. The President was elected because he is not a politician. To add fuel to the fire, the media, the MSM fan the flames farther by having so-called "experts" on and not one single expert has experience in investigating these types of crimes.

Now to add insult to injury, we have the Mexican government asking for guarantees that Mexican citizens will be protected. Now that is fine, and every human has the right to travel and be safe, but what about the countless numbers of American citizens that die in the custody of drug cartels? Look at how many times the Mexican government has jailed American servicemen for accidentally crossing the border into Mexico illegally. How many times have American citizens been held, illegally by Mexican authorities? We did not threaten to sue and ask for guarantees they would be safe in their country. We were told to travel at your own risk!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a serious problem in this country but it is not mental health, and it is not gun control. It is rhetoric, by both sides, and it is too much politics. We can place blame on any group we want to but it will not change the fact that the media, both press and social, are the problem. I do not think cracking down on social media accounts and watching people's conversations will fix anything. Until our "leaders" and I say that with little respect, understand that they are responsible for the actions of these people, it will not change. What if someone who has no record of having dangerous tendencies but has mental health issues wants to buy a weapon? All of a sudden a cousin who has a problem with the fact they have a mental disorder that may be as simple as ADHD or Tourettes, calls and reports the person and their 2nd amendment right is then infringed upon! These are the issues we face as a nation when trying to make a blanket law. Instead, they all point the finger and try to lay blame at someone else's feet. The fact is that they are both to blame for this. There was a mass shooting against Republicans at a congressional baseball practice and the media missed the manifesto that was related to Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. This was not an accident. This was on purpose. The right continually makes excuses that have nothing to do with the situation at hand, and then eventually cave and give in to the left and still, nothing gets done.

Finally, a large part of the problem is that we are too busy trying to find blame, that we seldom look at ourselves for the answers. It is a senseless and needless tragedy that has occurred and yes it seems to be getting more frequency. That being said, I guarantee you if you take away the rights and abilities of Americans to protect themselves and their families, the problem will get worse. We can throw out hypothetical situations and fixes all day long, but this will not fix the issue at hand. The first responders did their jobs and they did a great job. But if someone had been armed and willing to use the gun on their side, the incident would have ended long before it did. Let's stop the racial rhetoric, let's stop pointing fingers at people who were not involved in the shootings. Let's stop blaming objects that don't and can't work on their own. The problem lies in society, and there is nothing that will fix it except finally sitting down and coming together and being rational. Pointing fingers will fix nothing and only inflame the situation. Talking rationally and like adults will fix the problem. "Common sense" legislation is not common sense to all and is only common sense to those trying to get re-elected to office. And lying will not fix the issues. Altering letters and writings and manipulating conversations and quotes will make the problem worse and will never lead to a meaningful fix. When officials who admit they are not experts, but still make statements that they know are not entirely accurate, they ensure we will never fix the problems at hand. Stop the politics and fix the problem at hand, please!
