controversies
It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
Should the United Kingdom change its national anthem?
There are two aspects that need to be considered when comparing potential and actual national anthems, namely the words and the music.

Hello darkness smile a friend, I've come to talk with you again... The first time I heard Disturbed's version of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence, I was transported back to 1964. The song was released a day before my 14th birthday. It became my theme song.

A few days ago, a number of former military generals wrote an open letter, to the French President, Emmanuel Macron, stating that unless something is done regarding their concerns with radical Islam and immigration, they will forcibly launch a take over of the state, come next year.

Let me say, first I share this piece not to create controversy but two make sure that these types of issues are still held front and center in our actions and our minds. I feel the issue of racism is still alive and well in our communities. I feel theirs other issues brewing called police brutality. Unfortunately, this is affecting our young people of all races, as well. Especially for the black race. I think if we bring these issues to the forefront and talk about them we can put a dent in some of these issues. Together we can make a difference. So please read all of my pieces with an open mind and an open heart. Have you meant her yet? She comes on your property unannounced w/o your permission w/o a license or permits she complaints about your yard, your driveway, your pet, your property, your guest, your children, or just because. She has never seen you before and she doesn't recognize you sitting on the stoop of your own home for days, then the nosey witch turns up the heat......she snoops around you or your property, she stares you down, she snaps photos, she launches vicious try rates specifically at those wearing BLM attire, she complained, she begins to shout at you with slurs and innuendos, she reports you to the authorities if you're not yet meant her, you will, she goes by the name of KAREN! We can break through these bad acts of ignorance you can't really change anyone, they have got to want to change themselves. All you can do is pray for them with hopes that it won't take a situation that weeps the same pain to them as the pain it causes us when we are treated like we are treated simply because we are black, here in America. It's a shame we are still acting like we are back in the '60 . We still have several of our current generations both black and white that I believe have gotten "lost in the sauce". But it's not too late for either of our future generations. Together we must begin to work just as we worked together during the protests. If we work together this relationship between the races could work especially for our future generations. It's absolutely not too late. We should all Stay Woke because people are working against us and they are sometimes called politicians or the negative police force. Everybody Stay Woke it's not too late. It's all about you young people because it's you and only you that could make this change. You protested together you stood up together all over the world, black, white, brown, and others. You all stood together for one cause before. But it's ironic that only in America, white women are harassing black men and getting away with it continuously even with all of the controversy and publicity. Doom scrolling about the ongoing pandemic is, and you all can say it with me, the worst. It seems like no matter how many times you hit the refresh page on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or whatever soul-sucking app that we've voluntarily sold our information to, there's no shortage of friends, colleagues, depraved uncles and aunts that are all sucked into a vast web of conspiracy theories about COVID-19, false notions of race wars, and, Heaven forfend! Socialists! In America?! I must refer to all instances of state regulation of the pandemic as Orwell's 1984, or else how will the world know of the impending doom that is known as the Social Justice Warrior Socialist Communist BLM Plague!?!

For most, there is something innately fascinating about diseases and viruses. Zombies have been a staple of horror movies, books, and video games since the 1970s while games like Plague Inc (2012) have popularized the concept of epidemiology.
Kellen PiferPublished 3 years ago in The SwampCNN's Exposure Shouldn't be Partisan
If you're not actively consuming news, you may be unfamiliar with Project Veritas. If you've heard the name on network news, it's likely you've heard they're a right-wing political action group and not to be trusted. I'm not making a case for or against that. A few days ago, Project Veritas released tapes of CNN technical director Charlie Chester commenting on his network's operations. He was secretly filmed while on dates with a woman who was actually an undercover journalist for Veritas. This is unscrupulous perhaps; the poor guy couldn't have thought the dates were going well when all she could talk about was CNN, but the fact remains that this exposure does not come from any anonymous source as many stories do. The statements below come from Charlie Chester himself.
Wake Up America
Over the last few days I have been watching online videos of police and black African American interactions, usually to do with some alleged traffic infraction. Now I don't have any statistics to hand about what percentage of stops are black as opposed to white, but it does seem to me that that quite often blacks are picked out and treated differently than whites. But this is not the main point I want to address here. What I do want to address is the issue of how things go down when it is a black person who is being stopped.

In the early 2000's, one of my blue-eyed, blonde-haired, white step-sisters had multiple warrants out for her arrest for check forgery. She's been in and out of trouble for most of her life and also has a history of drug abuse and being defiant with authority figures. I've been reminded of it in the past year, especially as she and her dad are babbling about something they've heard on Fox News.

HOW’S DIVERSITY coming along in the Australian news media? Not so much. A study by the non-profit Media Diversity Australia, entitled Who Gets to Tell Australian Stories? and released August 2020, details just how white Anglo-Celtic the Australian news media is. But it was not surprising — not for someone from a non-English speaking background who’s been a journalist in Australia for 34 years: everywhere I’ve worked in the country, it’s been a wall of white Anglos as far as the eye could see.
