Open Letter to Peta

Dear PETA,

This is an open letter to your organisation regarding your actions and hypocrisy over the years. There is plenty that others have said about you, but it's time someone spoke to you directly and in public. There are a lot of things you need to address and as a big organisation with millions of supporters, you should know better.

On paper, you sound good. You're one of the biggest animal charities in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if you were the actual largest. You have tons of celebrity support and people look up to you all the time. It's just a real shame with all the money you have, you don't use it to do what's really important. Instead of focusing on animal welfare, you choose to spend your time harassing companies and people that you don't like or agree with.

If you are people for the ethical treatment of animals, then why do you put down over 80 per cent of animals you rescue and call it a mercy killing. In 2017, you took in 2000 dogs but only 44 got adopted. This is straight from Google. By putting healthy animals down you are lying to yourself and your supporters. How can you sleep at night?

Your advertisement campaigns are also concerning. Guilt tripping meat eaters to go vegan with scary blood ridden photographs. In one video you called out a chicken farm in Youtube and said it was a free-range farm. The chickens are cage-free and that is different from free-range. I also believe that the videos are stock and overproduced and show no resemblance to a real farm. No farmer would allow you to get a close look or allow dead animals to rot inside.

Humans are omnivores. That's just how it is. Some of us are fortunate to even have a choice of what we eat. Other animals have to venture far and wide for a decent meal. We often forget that humans are animals too. Humans have been eating meat for centuries and I think it's insane that a lot of your advertising campaigns make this one of the biggest sins ever.

Your treatment towards the Pokemon company and your laughingly bad parody game shows just how immature and shallow you are.

It is pathetic that you have to rely on putting down a successful franchise such as Pokemon. You have no right to pick on a fictional universe especially when you don't practice what you preach; bullying fur wearers whilst giving fur coats away for free. Fur may be bad, but so are synthetics.

The last thing that has made people really angry at you was your disgusting tweet about the late Steve Irwin. If you were truly passionate about animals, you would be looking up to him and honouring his memory. The man gave his life to animals whilst you use animals for profit.

Whilst I'm here I think Google and Pokemon were very classy not to lower themselves to your levels. Honestly, you make a certain president look like Mr. Rodgers in comparison to you.

I don’t think it will be long until you lose all support. I believe you should apologise to the Irwin family for your cruel comments. There is a petition for you to apologise and it has thousands of signatures as of now and more being increased. Instead of justifying your insults to a dead man, you should have apologised straight away. You should not need a petition in place for you to have some manners and morals.

I have one final thing to say: Fuck you, PETA
