Naive Little Brats

How Jimmy Dore And Youtube's Hard Left Failed Their Own Cause

As someone who has more or less always identified as someone firmly on the left side of the political aisle, it has become clear to me since 2016 that an emboldened and distinctly naive group of leftists have allowed themselves to become Trump's metaphorical key to the White House doors. Youtube's leftist firebrands like Jimmy Dore, Kyle Kulinski and Krystal Ball have all wittingly (no, I don't mean unwittingly) paved the way for a President Trump presidency.

They're absolute hatred for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and their commitment to the notion that she stole the nomination from Bernie Sanders, was, in my opinion, the lifeline that the Trump campaign needed to eek out an electoral college win, even when he fell nearly three million behind in the popular vote. The margins were slim enough to attribute the wins to pretty much any third party candidate, or moreover, any voter group determined to express their pseudo intellectual hatred for "both parties" as their M.O. for voting for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson.

To those of us that understand that the president is not merely a figure head, and that they are tasked with performing sacred duties like naming Supreme Court Justices (we have just welcomed Trump's THIRD nominee to the highest court in the land, Amy Coney Barett), not to mention appointing judges to all of the federal courts (Trump and Mitch McConnell have seized on this particular duty like a squirrel on an acorn, appointing hundreds more judges - many of whom have been distinctly unqualified, and many of whom have been distinctly young, giving the judicial branch in our country and solid conservative thrust, not only opposing the basic will of the American people (3 million less votes for Trump in 2016) but over time, most likely empowering multi-national corporations' control over the country and the lives of everyday Americans for a generation.

Jimmy Dore, a particularly petutalant Youtube "leftist", displayed what little understanding he has over the actual mechanations of American government, when he was unable to see the benefits to electing Clinton over Trump, and so used his platform to encourage disillusioned leftists not to vote for Hillary (I use those quotations to signify just how little Dore has done to help leftist causes and issues).

It's very difficult for me to believe that Mr. Dore actually cares about the causes he espouses to care about, such as access to healthcare, immigration reform that protects the most vulnerable of us all, the undocumented immigrant (so sickeningly referred to as illegal by right wing outlets and our wanna-be dictator-in-chief Trump... as if a human being could ever be "illegal") and the right to vote.

No. Mr. Dore does not care about these issues. He is not an activist, he is a performer. His main cause is his viewership. He understands that his audience is comprised of destructively righteous, unaffected upper middle class zealots. And his audience is is what matters. That he has an audience at all, is what matters. Were he to acknowledge that the groups and persons his "leftist" agenda would be served better by a Hillary Clinton presidency than a Donald Trump presidency, he would risk this critical group of "leftist performers" and risk his well cultivated image as a "BOTH SIDES SUCKologist", which is the butter to his bread.

One needn't look farther than the horrors at the border to see what grand buffoonery it was for any self-describing leftist to have not seriously pushed for a Clinton win in 2016. This is far from all of the harm that has come to the country, and the world, for allowing a Trump win in 2016. It's probably immeasurable, really, though getting any of these left-tube rodeo clowns to acknowledge their wrongdoing in 2016 is not something to hold your breath for. For it is this obstinance, the unwillingess to acknowledge pragmatism and further, the actual human toll, we pay by not choosing the better candidate.

Anytime Mr. Dore would like to defend his stance in 2016, I would ask him to think of the women in the detention camps along the border who's uteruses were taken out, or the children who were separated from their parents for great lengths of time, or even the public lands that stand on the precipice of destruction in the hands of the Republicans. All of this, and I haven't even mentioned the Supreme Court, and every other federal court in our country.

It's time for Jimmy Dore, Kyle Kulinksi, Krystal Ball and the "Bernie-or-Bust" leftists to come to Jesus, so to speak. If after reading this piece, they remain undeterred from their conquest to destroy any possibility a left leaning government has of taking power in these United States, then let them acknowledge those people's lives, who hang in the balance, and explain to them why protecting them from the harshest natures of American democracy wasn't enough. Let them explain why it was either all or nothing, and that their suffering at the hands of the right was a necessary evil in pursuit of perfect policy. And then let them explain the road to this perfect policy and who else must pay the price along the way.
