Mojtaba Khamnei: The Invisible Ayatollah Speaks.

Iran has had three ayatollahs to date. One was the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, or IRI: Ruhollah Khomeini. Then, when the old ayatollah died in 1989 following a bitter and devastating war with Saddam's Iraq, Ali Khamenei followed. Khamenei remained the Supreme Leader until he and other political and military leaders were obliterated from the face of the Earth by an American and Israeli attack that started this whole unnecessary war. Iran did not collapse, however, as MOSSAD advised the Americans. The Iranians elected a new ayatollah, the very son of the one they had slain, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The war, after 96 days or so of fighting, isn't a war any more, but neither is it an end to hostilities. Occasionally, the US and the Iranians bomb each other's targets. But negotiations are continuing, apparently. Neither side, it would appear, wants to go back to full-scale war. Trump has been bearing down on Netanyahu, if reports can be believed, to stop his actions in Lebanon. The Iranians are displeased that Israel and Hezbollah are fighting it out. So, Trump, again, if he is telling the truth, has called Netanyahu what can best be described as expletives about his ongoing clash with Hezbollah. Lebanon and Israel have agreed to yet another ceasefire; however, Hezbollah has said it will keep fighting until Israel stops attacking and pulls out of Lebanon.

The new Supreme Leader has spoken at a recent commemoration of the founding of the Islamic State by Khomeini. However, Mojtaba has not been seen in public, unlike his father, who was always in the public domain. And who can blame him or his security when death from the air took out his father and members of the extended family, and his wife, apparently. So Mojtaba is obviously ensconced somewhere in a bunker or some hidden place. MOSSAD, the CIA, etc., can track him via various means. So that's probably the most likely explanation as to why the new ayatollah has not been seen in public.

Others say the new ayatollah was severely injured in the same attack on his father. Some say severely so, or he is in a coma. Others say he is incapable of appearing in public or that he is horribly disfigured, so his audience would be shocked and horrified by his appearance. Others say he has had a prosthetic leg fitted, and so the rumours go on. Statements attributed to the ayatollah have been released, but whether they are from him is open to question.

A statement was read out on his behalf at the commemoration ceremony to remember the founding of the republic. The statement said the enemies of Iran, although defeated on the battlefield, still presented a clear and present danger to Iran. The Ayatollah said any criticism of the government could only be seen as helping the Israelis or the Americans. Apparently, the ayatollah is engaged in talks with the Americans to formally end the war. Trump has even hinted there could be a chance he might even meet Mojtaba Khamenei in the future. That day would be a day indeed. Imagine Trump flying into Tehran. That would require a severe thawing in the Cold War that has existed between the two nations since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Trump wrote about the art of the deal as if he were some sage on perfecting the perfect deal in business. However, Trump has failed miserably in getting deals with enemies in both his first term and second terms.

Will Trump break this deadlock and finally get a deal this time with Iran? I would like to say yes, but many will say no, so as Trump himself says, "We'll have to see".
