Here Comes The Smear Campaign Against Al Gore

President Trump Ignored His Own Daughter's Advice

Now that former Vice President Al Gore has released his new film, AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER, we can all expect, and are already seeing, an all-out attack on his character and on global warming science. The fossil fuel industry is regurgitating old stories, such as the story recently posted by "Salon.com" that Al Gore's house uses 34 times the amount of electricity than the average American, and so this supposedly makes him out to be a huge hypocrite. Of course, Al Gore's house is not the size of the average American's home, and is powered by solar panels that were upgraded in response to criticism that came after the release of the first INCONVENIENT TRUTH, not to mention that this is an ancient attempt to smear the former Vice President that was used over a decade ago after the first film was released.

Al Gore is single-handedly more responsible for making the entire planet aware of the global warming crisis. He is a very spiritual man, and sees the issue in moral terms but never mind, he will be the ultimate hypocritical demon in "actual fake news" stories for weeks to come. If he isn't doing the Lord's work here on earth, I don't know who is. It is only here in America that this politically driven insanity exists. Almost all scientists and the rest of the planet have accepted that man-made climate change is real, and is a great threat to the planet, and America is moving on to meet the requirements of the Paris Agreement, in spite of our current President's shallowness.

People in America need to get over their hatred and fear of Al Gore. He has been a tireless champion for the most important cause of our time, and he isn't running for any political office ever again. He went out of his way to meet with then President-Elect Trump and was lead to believe that Trump was considering staying in the accord. He had a supporter in Trump's inner circle in Ivanka, and the conversation carried on into the Trump Presidency, but of course, Trump has surrounded himself with climate change deniers and there was never any actual chance that he would have let America stay in. The good news is that America and the planet have been galvanized to completely reject the isolationist and selfish policies of this President.

What does that say about President Trump, that his smart daughter who also happens to be one of his White House Advisors, lost out in the debate about the most pressing issue of the day, the future of our planet? It says that we have a callous and shallow President, who is beholden to the oil companies, and could care less about what life will be for those on this planet after he is gone. Trump could have used the opportunity to show what an open-minded leader he is, and it would have been politically advantageous with the majority of Americans supporting staying in the Paris Agreement. It's not like he would have lost his base. The last two Republican nominees for President, John McCain, and Mitt Romney both accept that the science of climate change is real. Future generations will build statues of Al Gore, and laud him as a fantastic visionary with a heart of gold. Trump's legacy is still being written, but anyone who is really paying close attention can see that it is headed for a tragic ending.

I haven't seen the new film yet, but I am already hearing that it is powerful, and it will no doubt bring the issue back front and center where it belongs, as we see the effects of climate change play out daily on the national news. I have noticed among my younger coworkers, that climate change is not a political issue, and is a concern to all political stripes in that demographic. Trump has aligned himself with the wrong side of the debate, the wrong side of history. Gore has been civil and tepid in his criticism of the President's decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement and has gone to great pains not to divulge the private conversations he had with Mr. Trump, but narcissists like Trump cannot stand any criticism at all. It is an attack on their very existence. I predict it won't be too long here, as the debate moves forward, that Al Gore will become a target in some of Trump's narcissistic tweets. It's up to all of us to "win the conversation" about climate change as Vice President Gore has said repeatedly, with our friends, contacts, and colleagues.
