Black Lives Shattered

The same rules don’t apply to “us”, oh no it’s always been different for our kind. The differences between us & them are something I know all to well. Tis not a complaint about whether or not life is fair, for if your one of us you know the answer to that question. NO no no no no no no, hell no. Without question the challenges we face in America as African Americans are unique to us. Not to say other ethnicities don’t face their own or even similar issues as blacks in the United States.

I do firmly believe that America is a special type of Hell for brown skinned individual. Considering we were brought here as slaves to build the country, enslaved in the most inhumane of living conditions. The ride here itself was a form of extended damnation that not many of us can truly understand. To truly feel the horror our ancestors endured on that boat is almost un-imaginable.

Could you imagine being ripped from your home by fairer skinned strangers, and being forcibly transported to eternal slavery. Many of you reading this probably conceded and realized you can’t. The true horror is that while the middle passage over seas might be over, that same scenario is alive & well today.

I myself have been grabbed by a group of over-bearing racially charged caucaisan males. Snatched off the streets, and forcibly transported to my imprisonment. Jail, Prison, holding cells, all different forms & levels of suffering placed upon us by the “legal” system. It’s clear as day what’s going on, a continuation of old tactics with different names & reasoning.

You know what the modern legal system is, the modern slavery system. Blacks are incarcerated at a far higher rate then any others. Is it because we commit more crimes, have a bigger appetite for fast & illicit money? No, in-fact there are many crimes where the majority of offenders aren’t African American.

An example that’s quite easy for me to use is that of drug usage. Whites use marijuana in larger numbers & quantities then us. Why is it then that we are far more likely to be arrested for marijuana consumption? While I’ve met my fair share of black men & women who enjoy the recreational effects of the cannabis plant. I know far more whites who use cannabis in various forms & methods, far more then the average black consumer.

Alas, I’m not here to delve into the War on Drugs, and how it dis-proportionally affects people of color. Just another cog in the wheels keeping the engine of minority oppression going. The police aren’t here to serve and protect, not us that is. I wonder what it would be like, don’t you? To not have to your heart racing in fear when blue lights flash behind you. To have fleeting thoughts of death pondering if this interaction with law enforcement will be a prelude to your last moments on earth. To fear uniformed officers not because of being in the midst of crime but of making the slightest wrong motion & as a result being riddled with bullets.

Every day it seems there’s a new horrific story of police brutality involving our people, and many times these encounters are the victims last. Even without the pile of black bodies as a result of the largest gang in America we are still subjugated to unnecessary harassment & demeaning by the enemies in blue. With the reality of my life sinking in I’ve often struggled to have faith in God. Born & raised up in Christianity by my family I do have an attachment to my belief in Jesus.

However my mind gets to wandering about the whole truth of that matter. A couple days of CNN and Fox news can make you doubt much of what the pastor’s proposing at the pulpit on sunday mornings. Sure Jesus was tormented, persecuted & even killed as a result. The difference is he came back, Travyon Martin & Michael Brown will never rise again.

George Floyd, the man who’s death has quite literally set the country on fire will never take another breath. “I can’t breath” isn’t just for those of us who gasped for breath under the foot of an evil officer. No, it’s for all black people who realistcally fear the same thing could happen to them. We live in a country built upon the backs of our forced servitude that labels us as criminals while repressing any attempts to provide opportunities for us to flourish in other ways.

Living my life with the color of my skin in this country of evil white men is it a wonder I struggle to believe an almighty all powerful loving father is watching over us. Sometimes it feels like Hell is somewhere I’m already at, you know many people take things literally. It’s a common occurrence it seems for people to not truly understand what a parable is. I say that to say this, while some have cemented into their mind this image of Fire & Brimstone as eternal damnation.

I believe being a black man in America is Hell.

It would make so much since. Perhaps this is the aftermath of our lives on earth, and those who committed the most heinous acts are reborn on earth as black people in America.

Wishful thinking, anything to explain this life-long horror we experience in the USA. The Land of the free, but not if you have the same skin as me. A country built by wealthy racist & very evil individuals. Over the generations America’s put on quite the act, with many having the nerve to utter that racism is dead. Only a fool or someone who believes the listener Is a fool could say that honestly. How can a country who’s foundation is evil be expected to have an honest opinion on the current state of race affairs?

This is the story of the pain & suffering I’ve endured as a black man in America. The struggles I’ve endured and the horrible fates I’ve witnessed unfold on my brothers & sisters. This is the story of a world where black lives matters is at risk of being a terrorist group & the Ku Klux Klan is alive & well. Black lives Matter yeah right not here. No, I’m here to tell the truth about our existence, Black Lives Shattered.
