Biden and Neanderthal

How there is no comparison

In article from Newsweek: Biden told reporters it "a big mistake" that some governors are loosening COVID-19 restrictions on Wednesday, adding, "The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking."

President Joe Biden made this remark towards Texas Governor Gregg Abbott as he plans to end coronavirus measures in his state and Mississippi Governor Tate reeves plan to end mask mandates in the state.

While I agree with Joe Biden expression of contempt towards Republican politicians on their unwillingness to follow Joe Biden's guidelines for dealing with the Covid-19 virus, calling them Neanderthals is a rather poor choice of insults.

In this post, I will explain why I think it is a poor choice of insults.

They were able to make things with stone tools

This one is rather obvious.

Homo Neanderthalensis was able to shape arrow and spear heads, along with being able to make stones sharp for hand axes and knives that were used for cutting meat to eat and the flesh off of their kill to make clothing (they were able to sew leather too) and to keep them warm during colder times. (1)

When was the last time an anti-Covid people invented something useful?

They didn't eat only red meat

While in some parts of the world like Siberia, the Urals and other polar regions where Homo Neanderthalensis lived, places like the El Sidron cave in Spain found evidence that the diet was more plant-based consisting of tree bark, mushrooms, pine nuts and moss. (1)

There is also evidence that they ate seafood like sharks, dolphins, crab, mussels, fish, eels, seabreams, seals and even seabirds when they lived at Figueira Brava near Setubal, Portugal. It made up half their diet whereas the other half was clearly red meat. (2)

Trumpers, like any other anti-Covid person, aren't the healthiest eaters even before the pandemic and of course Neanderthals ate their food fire roasted, not deep fried.

The weapons they made had a purpose other than killing and proving their "manhood."

You already got ideas about this from the first argument about stone tools.

Neanderthals needed spears for throwing at their prey, but they of course also made spears for thrusting and stabbing, suggesting that they also had the spears for when they needed to get up close and personal with their prey. (4)

There was of course fighting between Neanderthals and our human ancestors, so it would not be all that surprising if they used their spears or other Stone-Age based weapons for more than just getting food. (5)

The Covid-deniers who don't believe in the Covid-19 virus no doubt have a bedroom full of weapons to make up for their lack of manliness and to prove they are not cowards (they are).

Neanderthals were much stronger and faster

Despite the short, stocky frame, Neanderthals were sprinters, good at hiking hilly and squatting. With it proven that they were ambush hunters that could rely on sudden explosive speed and strength to overcome their prey, they could prove to be a real menace to those who were their prey. (6)

The typical appearance of a Covid-19 denier(or Trumper if you'd prefer) seem to be proof on how some humans don't care about their own personal health. Pit a Neanderthal in a sprinting race against a Trumper and the Trumper would no doubt suffer a heart attack. It would also be a no -brainer who would win a fight between a Neanderthal and a Trumper.

Long story, short

I find President Joe Biden's comparison of the Abbott's plan to reopen Texas sooner as "Neanderthal thinking" is a poor attempt at insulting Abbot

I would have used the word "Medieval", referencing the Black Plague that destroyed much of the European population due to poor hygiene practices, backwards medical practices and like 45, crappy leadership.
